Initially, I anticipated a mature, cunning protagonist, but the main character (MC) only displays such traits sporadically. He often acts like a spoilt child, throwing tantrums, sulking, and occasionally even exploiting fame for personal gain. His character lacks consistency, especially during his formative years, which can be frustrating at times. The MC relies heavily on his modern knowledge but proves unreliable overall.
The magical element, apart from the initial soul transfer, is underdeveloped and seems to be abandoned by the author, almost like a cop-out. The plot progression doesn't follow a gripping crescendo; it oscillates between decent and disappointing, with the supporting characters becoming the driving force for hope.
Rong Tian and Ruo Yan's intense affection for Feng Ming perplexes me. Their love feels overly influenced by physical attraction (the "power of the boner").
Despite these setbacks, there are redeeming aspects. The relationship between the protagonists deepens with frequent intimate scenes, showcasing genuine care. Moments where the underdog uses modern knowledge to turn the tide provide some intrigue. Honestly, I didn't want to read this at first because I didn't want to get emotionally invested, but there were no major spoilers, so my curiosity got the better of me. For those who come after, here's a heads up on potential spoilers:
In the story, it seems like the main character's father was a flawed emperor, leading to civil unrest and eventually a coup. The prince, our ML, was involved, and while he didn't directly harm her family, he took them hostage to control her. He also sent her ex-husband, who gave up his position for her, to the battlefield, where he tragically died. During the invasion, her older sister suffered a horrifying assault by General Sun, which MC witnessed before her sister's suicide.
Throughout, it's unclear if ML truly loved MC or if it was more of an obsession mixed with guilt. The lines between love and power dynamics are blurred. The line "I could seek his power and status, but not his love" suggests he may have loved her in a conditional way, knowing his affection wouldn't last once the situation changed.
Many suggest she should have taken her own life, but with family hostages, it wasn't a viable option. The tragic ending sees her poisoned, unknowingly, by her own parents as part of a triple suicide pact.

Hmm.. interesting.. I just gave it a try but couldn't commit. Maybe cyz I was reading primal hunter on the side.. it seems I have start it again after catching up with primal hunter.
It's interesting so far I'm on chapter 44, and the fl has a strong personality and shes very clever ~she knows how to outsmart all the other characters, especially her 3rd sister. So far no ml -not a problem tbh since it's proven to be less problematic. I would definitely recommend u to read it if u have any question ask away.
Man, I feel cheated with that ending.So the story was rushed to hell in the last 20 or so chapters and the payoff was so stupid.Apparently this novel is a sequel novel and so the final villain behind the scenes is the previous story’s MC. And the reasoning for the BS Sheyan goes through is so stupid like I clocked out after it was revealed. Like fvck this guy.I don’t even want to read the previous story. I don’t give a fvck who he is, he was so annoying being such a gnat to Sheyan for such an annoying reason.I don’t even care that he’s still alive at the end, like this shit ruined this story. I don’t care if previous MC is now gonna still cause trouble for current MC in a future novel. Why even bring him in? Why even reveal all this last second, author? Why even bother writing a novel about this MC if you’re still gonna make the story about last MC in the end?I wouldn’t even be mad if the author gave hints to past MC existing in this novel causing trouble here and there throughout Sheyan’s journey, but he literally came out of nowhere in the last 5 chapters.
