Zhou Nian. Just... Zhou Nian. The woman comes in and immediately hugs Wen Lan so hard she nearly loses her breath, calls her 'Lanlan' like they've been besties forever, eats an apple like she owns the place, and makes kidney jokes. And Wen Lan—who has COMPLETE amnesia—responds with 'Sorry. I don't have a heart.' Like, of COURSE that's what she would've said to this woman before. Their dynamic is INSTANT and it feels real. The text says: 'Otherwise, there was no way she could have spoken to her with such effortless familiarity.' That's the whole point. The friendship exists beneath the amnesia. It's one of those things that makes you go 'aww' without being saccharine. And then there's the Wen Wu angle. The little girl calling Wen Lan 'Mama' and running off to find 'Daddy'—that domestic setup is so warm. Wen Wu's internal monologue about how her mommy now reads to her and hugs her, unlike other kids' moms, made me genuinely soft. And Wen Lan's reaction—just quietly watching her, wiping her sweat, carrying her downstairs—shows how much this child has already become her person. But the REAL character moment? Wen Lan telling Uncle Xiao 'Don't add ice' when referring to Lu Zhixing's drink. She doesn't even realize she's doing it. It's instinctive care. Four years of marriage (apparently) and it's just BAKED into her muscles.
