I need to talk about Yan Wenjing's dialogue because this man speaks in three words and I am OBSESSED. Let's start with the line that literally changed my life: "That's a separate charge." Jiang Yunzhi tells him she'll consider it a separate charge if he pushes her away during the night, and he actually says it. He believes her. He gently pushes her away and mutters "that's a separate charge" like they're conducting a business transaction. And then she hugs him tighter in her sleep and he calls her a "little liar." The subtext is SO thick you could cut it with a knife. Every line from Yan Wenjing is deceptively simple. When he says "No" to her question about whether he'd divorce her if she lost her Jiang family status, it's neither cold nor warm — just certain. That's character development in a single word. And Jiang Yunzhi's voice? Absolutely delightful. "There's such a good thing?" she says when her brother threatens to cut ties, and the casual greed in that line tells us everything we need to know about her priorities. She's not a victim; she's a woman who likes money and isn't afraid to say it. Her internal monologue is where the real comedy lives — "I'm going to fight you rich people!" after learning the jewelry is worth 60 million. "She was willing to work for the boss for the rest of her life!" This is the kind of dialogue that makes you laugh out loud on the subway. The author's narrative voice also has this wonderful dry humor — describing Jiang Yunzhi's laugh as "like a pervert" when she's just reading a novel. Every character has a distinct voice. Even Jiang Lulu's fake-sweet comment on WeChat Moments — "as expected of someone from the countryside" — tells you everything about her without any narration needed.
