but the ML character development is amazing, how he overcame his pain & fears and chose to do the right thing. Both ML and FL getting their peace in the end & getting their HEA was absolutely beautiful to read. This was in my opinion a phenomenal book good job author...
I was fully prepared to hate this story's treatment of family by this point. Everyone's either using everyone or betraying everyone. Ziling's own father sold out his in-laws for profit, the stepmother and sister are vultures, the clan relatives are bitter and cruel. I thought maybe there was nobody left who actually loved her. And then — her uncle shows up. This middle-aged man who lost his own wife and still came to give her money and words of genuine comfort. "It's your uncle's failing—I hold no post and have no power." He couldn't stop the exile but he showed up anyway. And Ziling felt it so deeply that the original body's emotions bled into her own and she suddenly wanted to hug him. I'm not crying, you're crying. This moment hit me because it's so simple — no grand gesture, no dramatic rescue, just a relative showing up with a small bundle and saying your father is a beast. Sometimes that's all you need. The author contrasts this with the grandmother giving jade bracelets and silver, and the mother-in-law's dignified grief, and it all builds this picture of what family actually looks like when everything falls apart. Not everyone abandons you. Some people show up with whatever they have.

The story lines from book one to two are consistent and thought provoking.
The author states English is not her first language, so please be kind as this story is worth it and you can easily figure out the occasional slip.
