Okay, the stakes in this story just went FROM ZERO TO ONE HUNDRED and I am not okay. Let me lay out what we know: Shen Xun (the Zhenyuan General) has disappeared under suspicious circumstances. His son Shen Jinyan has gone hysterical. Gu Ning believes his illness started because of her. Chi Yan has received a SECRET LETTER stating that Shen Xun will definitely die within three months. And the ONLY cure for Chi Yan's condition is the Moon-silk Flower, which Madam Shen can offer as a reward. So Gu Ning is trapped. If she goes to the general's estate, she risks her life—Chi Yan literally says "there are those who do not wish for Shen Jinyan to regain his clarity." The best way to prevent his recovery would be to target HER. But if she doesn't go, Chi Yan dies within a year, and the general's family falls apart. The internal conflict is just as brutal. Chi Yan wants to keep her safe but also can't let her near Shen Jinyan. His jealousy and his love are the same thing, and that's the tragedy. When he says "Have you ever thought about what I would do if something happened to you?"—his eyes red, his voice trembling—he's not just being dramatic. He's genuinely scared that if she dies, he'll become something worse than Liu San. And Liu San? He's out there poisoning people, collecting information, and smiling through blood. The external threats are closing in from every direction. I need the next chapter NOW.
I really love the story so interesting, infact i rate the book 99/9% so lovely story.

Loved the story... your writing is amazing
lovely book
The opening image of Mount Fu—'Floating Mountain'—half submerged in clouds and mist, its full appearance hidden throughout the year—this is such a perfect establishing shot. It immediately tells you this is a place where the normal rules don't apply. The living stay at the foot of the mountain. The stone tablet reads 'Living Stop' and 'No Return.' An old man warns a youth that someone went in and came out mad, rambling about a three-story tower with high-upturned eaves and nine ghosts inside. One of them is Eighteenth Lady herself. This is worldbuilding through rumor and atmosphere rather than exposition dumps, and it works so well. Then you get Fushan Tower itself—vermilion-lacquered doors, a three-story building where ghosts pay rent in Nether-wealth, with the poorest ghost living on the first floor for eighteen years. The hierarchy is clear: offerings equal comfort, and Eighteenth Lady is at the bottom. But the tower also has this weird domesticity to it. Su Yingtang has a room full of offerings. There's a daybed. A woodshed for the poor. It's a ghost apartment complex with a strict HOA. And the scene where Eighteenth Lady finally manifests in Xu Jichun's room—waning moon half-dim yet still bright, paper window half-open, lamplight casting misty shadows, a crimson flush blooming on his face like dawn mist—this is cinema. Pure cinema. The author doesn't over-describe; every detail serves the mood. Half-open, half-dim, half-bright. Everything is in between, just like Eighteenth Lady herself, who exists between the living and the dead.
nice start.... different story... love to read
awwwww, can't wait for more?
Okay so let me just say—this handsome man is DONE for. Like, completely, utterly finished by a woman who cooks wraps. The moment Lin Dan says 'Bashu's food is indeed delicious' and he responds with 'It seems you're a food lover too,' I literally screamed. That is NOT a casual conversation starter, my friends. That is a man trying to find a reason to keep talking to someone he's been watching like a hawk for hours. And then the best part—when Lin Dan looks over and he QUICKLY lowers his head like a kid caught stealing cookies. Who does that?! He's some kind of dangerous leader type, right? But one look from this woman and he's flustered. I love it. But what really got me is the power shift here. These three men—armed, dangerous, clearly used to getting what they want—were reduced to drooling over a pot of soup like starving puppies. And Lin Dan? She didn't even flinch. She just kept cooking, kept explaining, kept being this calm, competent force while they fell apart. The fact that they then decided to escort her group instead of robbing them? That's not just gratitude. That's someone who has been completely disarmed by another person's competence and kindness. The leader saying 'keep moving, no more talking' after his guys were clearly distracted by food? That's not just authority. That's a man trying to maintain control over something that's slipping away. He can command his men, he can navigate dangerous roads, but Lin Dan making flatbread? That's a threat he can't fight. I need to know what happens next because this dynamic is everything.
