Okay so let me just say this out loud: Gu Shaonan is the most complicated character in this whole story and I am NOT okay with how he's handling things. Like, yes he got reborn too, yes he remembers the future, but the way he just casually decides to switch his whole life to Chen Qinghe while still keeping Lin Sui as a backup friend?? That is some next-level emotional cowardice right there. The text says: "This lifetime... He would choose Chen Qinghe." And then immediately after, "Of course, he wouldn't simply abandon Lin Sui. For the sake of the years they had spent as husband and wife, if she ever encountered difficulties in life, he would still help her." I am literally shaking. He's treating his wife of decades like an emergency contact, not a person. And the worst part? He actually justifies it by saying his mother preferred Chen Qinghe and that Lin Sui wasn't "particularly easygoing." Bro, you're blaming YOUR MOTHER'S PREFERENCES for abandoning your wife. That's not a reason, that's an excuse. Meanwhile Lin Sui is over here thinking maybe she misunderstood him, that "surely family affection still remained." She's still defending him in her head while he's already planning his new life with someone else. That hurts to read. The tragedy is that both of them remember different versions of their past life and are making completely different conclusions from the same memories. Chen Qinghe on the other hand—she's just caught in the middle of all this male decision-making. "Compared to that scruffy Liu Gao, Gu Shaonan is far better-looking." That line made me laugh out loud because it's so brutally honest. She's not choosing him for love, she's choosing him because he has money now and looks better than the abusive guy she was about to marry. Their whole relationship dynamic is built on transactional survival, not romance. And then there's Zhou Chiye, who actually shows up and helps Lin Sui without any agenda. The contrast is painful.
