Yes very much worth it, it's an incredible novel written to show how stupid the hero and demon king system is, it's an incredible comedy written to showcase and spit on the demon king and the god who reincarnated the hero to slay the demon king. Now be open minded and start reading.

The protagonist holds his childhood friend in such high regard that he's willing to defy fate and prevent her from becoming a hero. Wow, no need for a further evaluation – my interest has been piqued just by that line. I'm not particularly concerned about whether the author will follow through with this plot twist and demonstrate the consequences, like sparing the MC's friend at the expense of everyone else in their village, except for her. However, based on the content I've read so far, the writing strikes me as rather immature.
