Let me just say this author knows how to control the rhythm of a story. Chapter 1 opens with a dream sequence—that's already unusual for a first chapter and immediately hooks you. Then we cut to reality, Zhi Wan's daily life, the gossip, the weight of her situation. By the time she reaches the Orchid Courtyard, you understand everything you need to know about her world without a single exposition dump. Chapter 2 does this thing where it builds this almost warm, domestic atmosphere—Wei Shi being kind, Zhi Wan massaging her temples, the aunt-niece bond feeling genuine. Then LU ZHAN appears and the whole energy shifts. The comedy of errors with him hiding in the inner chamber, Zhi Wan's mortification, her aunt's headache—all of it plays out like a scene from a drama. And then it cuts to the garden, and the mood drops again. Chapter 3 starts with the confrontation with Lu Xin and her maid. The pacing here is tight—escalation, the slap, the confrontation, and then it cuts off right at the moment where Zhi Wan finds her voice. The cliffhanger is perfect because you're not just wondering what happens next, you're wondering WHO THIS PERSON IS that Zhi Wan is finally standing up to. The author is playing with your expectations like a cat with a mouse.

Great so far! Love the fact the grandpa and mother in law love him. Korah should get her karma though, and the father in law. They both need to be knocked down a few pegs, and get some intelligence. Like how on earth do they think those guys just fell over on the road.
