Heyyyy where is the update of this book?
I've reached the chapter on Maya and I'm loving all the layers to the story. And Drake finding out he has been living a lie lol.
Author - Ongoing or abandoned?
Well, nice.
kudos to author! This is a good book
love this story but it is getting stagnet not moving forward very fast
Okay so I need to talk about Yang Zhigang because this man is the only sane person in the entire Yang family and it is hilarious. Here you have a mother-in-law who is straight-up villainous—wanting to beat her daughter-in-law three times a day, plotting to trick her into giving up all assets, calling her children 'idiots' to their face—and then there's Yang Zhigang, the dad, who's like 'hey maybe don't do that, she bore your grandchildren.' And he's not just saying it for show either. He's the only survivor of a shipwreck because he stayed behind to visit his granddaughters at the hospital instead of going to sea. The book literally says his two granddaughters saved his life. That is such a powerful detail and it completely recontextualizes his character. His motivation is selfish, sure—he wants to watch the girls grow up—but it's an honest selfishness. When Han Xiaorui lays out her demands, he doesn't flinch. He agrees to the house, the boat, the land, the monthly payments. He even admits his own motives to her face: 'I have my own selfish motives; I just want to watch Pingping and An'an grow up.' That level of self-awareness is rare in these kinds of family drama novels. Most fathers-in-law in this genre are either completely evil or completely silent. Yang Zhigang is both flawed and functional, which makes him feel real. Meanwhile, Yang Jianming is just... there. A hollow man. Cheating, cowardly, resentful that his wife isn't crying anymore. The moment when Han Xiaorui locks the gate in his face and he feels 'an unpleasant mix of emotions' because she's not suffering enough—chef's kiss. The author doesn't even need to make him a cartoon villain. He's just pathetic in a very ordinary, very realistic way. And Zhang Xiufang? She's so one-note I almost want to applaud the efficiency.
I just want to laugh at the reviews that say the MC is a villain and other nonsense. No doubt, the MC is a villain who likes to manipulate and fits the "scum MC" genre. Every negative review is right. I know most people don't read the genres and tags. But this is a great harem novel. It has a nice flow and its own unique charm that can attract a trash-taste reader like me.
By the way, I am the BOT.
What a disappointing mishap! The story started strong but unfortunately, the author made a sudden genre shift, turning it into a cheap drama. Don't let the initial sweet chapters deceive you; the tone quickly turns sour, especially in Chapter 14. Despite knowing the drama might resolve later, I couldn't overlook the negative impact on the main character's portrayal. He comes across as self-centered, arrogant, and suffering from a severe case of 'main character syndrome.'
Save yourself the trouble and avoid this abysmal work at all costs. To give you a brief overview of the issue:
Spoilers follow:
Out of the blue, the protagonist who was previously perceived as unappealing and had no marriage prospects receives unexpected marriage proposals from not just one, but two crown princes, with no logical explanation.
The main character, driven by his own thoughts, believes the best course is to end their engagement, believing it will elevate the female lead (FL) to queenly status – conveniently overlooking the concept of true love, which seems to mean nothing to him.
In a despicable move, he publicly attends a ball with another woman, holding hands, unilaterally breaks off the engagement without prior consent, and even admits to impregnating someone else.
Ugh, what a charming display!
This had so much potential just as it was getting really good, dam
As of chapter 255, it seems like it’s been mostly Chinese with 1 singular Japanese guy.
naive - dense - no brain - nagging - playing hero - he has 0 pride.
if you like this type of MC go for it
