I've come across various types of romantic stories involving Yaoi, BL, Shounenai, where the male lead (ML) often displays dominant or authoritative behavior, but they're endearing and their strictness is accepted by the protagonist. They usually provide support and don't hinder the MC's growth. However, this particular story has been a first for me – I genuinely dislike the ML. His manipulation is off-putting; he constantly disapproves of the MC's actions, like when the MC tries to create a healing potion for him, or when the MC decides to craft a cold weapon for financial independence. The ML's controlling nature is unbearable; he even tries to dictate the MC's every move, including their time and diet. Frankly, I'd much prefer if the MC had a different love interest, perhaps the secondary character who might offer a more balanced and supportive dynamic.
In general, I appreciate the storyline, but I've come across a potential issue. It appears that a harem is forming, with several key female characters having kissed the protagonist by chapter 500, often without clear initiation from him. This is something I personally don't enjoy, as it seems to be used as a justification for the strong trust and support the females provide. The later characters appear to instantly fall for the main character, which feels forced. Moreover, having multiple partners, even if not legally binding, goes against the moral norms in the story's world, yet the MC doesn't disclose these relationships to the girls. They discover it on their own, surprisingly accepting it, despite some being high-ranking like a princess, a powerful seer, a renowned author, and a ring warlock who sees herself as his possession and is related to the princess. There are also other female characters who show interest but haven't progressed beyond that point.
Additionally, despite the revelation that his true affection lies elsewhere, the MC continues to maintain these ambiguous connections without clarifying them. Lastly, the MC expresses disgust towards cross-dressing, even when it's explained as a popular trend among playwrights, which makes it difficult for me to engage with the story.
Due to these concerns, I've decided to hold off reading further until the translator catches up to where I stopped, and I'll reassess if a harem tag is added. If not, I might consider re-reading to see if the author provides a satisfactory resolution or逆转 in the plot.
The narrative presents a grim situation where the female protagonist endures the consequences of her parents' actions, unaware of their deeds, thus portraying her as innocent. The male lead holds her accountable for events beyond her control, meting out suffering based on her circumstances. I find the plot intriguing, especially the portrayal of the intelligent female lead. Although the male lead hasn't shown significant development so far, there's potential for him to change without much difficulty, given that he displays not only rudeness but also deception in his character.

The story seems appealing enough for me to give it a try, despite requesting a slow-paced romance and age regression element, as the characters exhibit childlike behavior without being overly annoying. However, I don't particularly enjoy the main character's demeanor; he reminds me of the typical tsundere female protagonist from Japanese anime, often resorting to physical altercations, such as slapping the male lead. This might be my final novel read in quite some time, as they've been my sole source of solace for the past five years, but I'm struggling to continue with this one.
The writing is excellent, with endearing characters that captivate your attention. Although the pacing is deliberate, it doesn't become a hindrance while reading; instead, it allows you to savor each moment. Each chapter leaves you eagerly anticipating the next installment. Despite one of the protagonists having an unlikable demeanor, you find it difficult to dislike her, even as a reader. Each character possesses a distinct backstory and personal conviction, allowing them ample room to grow and evolve throughout the narrative.
