His path was then blocked off by three nobles. In the few seconds that the archmage had slowed Arawn, they had pulled out their swords and come to stand before him with their weapons raised.
The path seemed to go on forever. The forest seemed to weep as the dense rain fell in the night. Leaves fell quickly onto the path, covering it completely, which made it much more pleasing to look at, especially with the stars showing a blissful blaze through the clouds, which dare not block the light show up above. Ford could barely see where he was going, but he couldn't go back. He had long since lost sight of his brother's flashlight. There was no way he'd find his way back this late at night. Waiting till daylight, wherever he was headed, would work out better. Thinking about the situation, Ford began to beat himself up. Why did he bother going to see what the light was, without his brother even? He looked around to try to find any stalking eyes, but the most he saw was a frog, not even looking at him. It was fixated on a huge fly that was much faster than it should be. Soon though, waiting for the right moment, the frog extended it's tongue and ate the fly whole. Only then did it look at Ford, tilting its head to the side. "You think I'm a dummy too, huh pal." Ford sighed. The frog leaped towards him and this caught Ford off guard. It jumped on his foot before climbing all the way up to the top of Ford's head. It then planted itself and began to rest. Ford was about to put the little frog back on it's leaf, but decided against it. For as small as it was, the strange green and red frog gave him more assurance. Something so tiny was already taking an impact on him, and he did not want to lose his new friend. "I think I'll call you Chip." He said, noticing that on it's way up, the frog had rummaged through his bag and grabbed a potato chip. The small frog croaked before going back to resting and Ford decided to go back to walking.
The air crackled, gunshots pouring into the ambulance as loud as thunder and as fast as lightning. Slow to react, Hope watched on helplessly as one after the other bullets poured in through one side of the vehicle and exited out the other.
