I need to talk about this one moment where Xia Yuan grabs Ying Sitong by the shoulders and literally threatens her about his aunt. He says 'she's my only family' and the way he says it—so serious, so protective—it completely changed how I see him. This guy is a stunt performer who basically has nothing, grew up an orphan himself, and Zhang Shiting is the only person who's been there for him. And when Ying Sitong casually mentions that her aunt's perfume smells really good (which, let's be honest, is kind of a creepy thing for a vampire to say about a human), Xia Yuan's response is immediate and fierce. What I love is that Ying Sitong doesn't even get mad. She just brushes his hands off and says 'I'm your savior, you know' like it's nothing. But then her tone actually softens. These two are constantly negotiating power in their relationship—he has the legal contract, she has the supernatural advantage, but emotionally? It's way more complicated than that. She's an orphan too, remember? Raised in a welfare institution. So they're both people who've never had a real family, and somehow they ended up married to each other. The irony is almost painful. And the fact that he's willing to threaten the person who literally saved his life shows how much that family bond means to him. It's not just plot decoration—it's the emotional core of why he's holding onto this marriage even as he tries to find a way out of it.
When I first started reading novels, I came across this idea. My perspective might be unremarkable, but I've seen it in numerous anime and manga where the main character gets knocked around by foes, friends, and even romantic interests, yet they recover and carry on as if nothing happened. This might have influenced my thoughts, but ultimately...
The book was enjoyable for me, even though the writing style wasn't a major concern. It made sense within its context, with the translated parts being solid, while the machine translation could have been better, but it didn't detract much from the story.
The dark beginning initially caught my attention and helped shape the character's growth, making him mature sooner than expected. Some reviews, especially the negative ones, criticize the main character for being an unlikable jerk with a harem, and some girls getting hurt along the way. But remember, this is a harem story; it's inevitable that he'll attract multiple female characters.
People seem to struggle with the concept, but consider the circumstances: he's been through a lot of trauma, forced to survive in a grim environment with those who betrayed him as his last connection. If not for the loli vampire, he'd likely be a brooding demon lord.
He's a complex character, a Tsundere. People often have difficulty accepting this dynamic when it happens with male characters. He's human, grappling with his emotions and the pain of betrayal. He doesn't kill everyone out of anger; instead, the girls become a source of warmth and help soften his cold exterior. As he struggles to overcome his past and cope with his emotions, his protective nature intensifies, often manifesting in half-hearted explanations to save the day.
I cannot comprehend why anyone would rate this any less than 5 stars. It's an outstanding novel with a delightful romance and an utterly captivating plot, particularly for its genre. The unexpected twists (I won't spoil it) keep the story fresh and engaging. The narrative shift between perspectives effectively demonstrates how two individuals perceive the same event from vastly different angles, enriching the tale. Currently, this is my top choice, and my only minor concern is the lack of frequent updates. I'm eagerly awaiting more content, darn it!

nah typical person trying to explain his point of view instead of screaming in the comments like a child throwing a tantrum. I mean i have no idea how many comments i have seen with ppl just saying it sucks or the author ruined his work, and they dont even explain smh. Just a little sad that the ppl that rate the novel good aren't commenting from the stars its given it is clear more ppl like it than not, its just that they dont comment. lol
I also thought the same way as you since the MC is the same age as me but then I compared it to the age difference of the other book I read, My wife is a genius superstar, where the guy is 31 and the girl is 21 but I suppose the difference would be that the other is books couple met when they were adults
