This is where the pacing goes from gentle rom-com to full-on emotional devastation and I was NOT ready. The chapter before is all sweet domesticity—hot pot, snacks, her sketching him—and then BAM, the wine. One glass and her defenses are down. The drunk scene is handled so well because it's not just about physical intimacy, it's about memory returning. "Last night, when she was drunk, she remembered some things." That line alone changes the entire trajectory of the story. The morning after—her aching body, the red marks she thinks are mosquito bites, the hangover soup—this is all building dread. She's waking up to a new reality while Shi Jianchuan is already panicking about his overseas trip. The structure here is brilliant: sweet moment → intimate night → painful morning → looming separation → cliffhanger ending with her door opening. Each beat escalates the tension. And that final image of her door creaking open as he's about to leave? I literally gasped. The author knows exactly when to pull the rug out from under you.

author what is going on? all the chapters are not in order and most are repeating, it's getting very confusing. please fix the problem I love this book!
