amazing plot!! I love this book!
Okay so Shen Xingbai grabbing Ji Rou by the throat in Chapter 7 had me genuinely unsettled. Like, I get it—he's been wronged, he's been reborn with a mission, he's got every reason to be furious—but the way he just *chokes* her and demands to know who she is? That's not just jealousy, that's pure power play. And the worst part? Ji Rou's reaction. She doesn't even try to be smart about it. She just rolls her eyes and says 'I'm your ancestor—now let go!' Which, honestly, is the funniest thing I've read all week. The original Ji Rou would've either cried or played the victim, but this version? She's got teeth. What really got me though is the Xu Qingmei scene. After everything that just happened—the drugged wine, the near-assault, the whole Shen Xingbai confrontation—Ji Rou goes back to the dorm and immediately apologizes to Xu Qingmei. Not because she has to, but because she actually *sees* her now. 'I've seen Wu Xiaomei for who she really is'—that line hit different. The original Ji Rou threw away a genuine friend for a fake one, and the current Ji Rou is determined not to make that mistake again. Their dynamic felt so warm compared to everything else. Xu Qingmei patting her head like an older sister, calling her 'Rou Rou'—it made my chest ache a little, you know? Because we all know how this ends in the original story. Xu Qingmei gets pushed away and leaves heartbroken. Ji Rou is trying so hard to fix it. And Shen Xingbai... the man is *complicated*. He catches her on the phone setting up Wu Xiaomei, he watches her lie smoothly, and instead of just storming off he stays. He watches. He's trying to figure out if she's still the same girl or if something has changed. That moment where he searches her eyes and sees only fear, not disgust? I think even he was surprised. He's been carrying this grudge from his past life, but the Ji Rou in front of him doesn't match the memory. That's going to be such a fun cat-and-mouse game.

This book is terribly written, it makes absolutely no sense and the chapters are all over the place. I feel one star is being generous.
