Yet another GT novel here...... Come on qidian atleast get a decent novel... You see none of the latest novel taken from other sites or newly translated have a higher rank on novel updates... It feels like qidian is uploading ONLY TYPICAL DRAMA AND PREDICTABLE novels....
Honestly the story is well written in comparison to many others out there but the Author should really work on his depiction of the main character's character as well as habits and train of thoughts. The way he handles issues is off-putting to say the least. His thought process is irrational and dumb and he tends to make seemingly "smart" choices but in depth investigation shows that his choices are actually rather stupid and don't seem progressive. He takes constant loses in dealings and is honestly a character without an ounce of spleen. He can be said to be somewhat of a sycophant and this is till chapter 70 as thats where I reached before nearly puking blood from the frustratiion the mc is causing me. Other than the main character I have loved everything about the novel so far. I highly appreciate the author and would like to encourage him to keep putting out chapters but to also work on this mc's character cause it really prevents people from reading the book when his character is this off putting in the beginning.

It's not just 'share or don't share,' it's about community survival vs. family survival, and the story takes it seriously. Community level: The gossiping women on the mountain path. The villagers who see the ox cart loaded with grain. The text notes 'No one expected that the Su family secretly had so much money.' In a village where 'every household was struggling just to get by,' sudden wealth is a beacon. Someone is going to notice. Someone is going to want a cut. External threat level: The thug scene introduces Liu Wen, a 'neighboring village' bully who leads a gang. Old Man Su recognizes him and mentions his son Sanlang once beat him up. This is clearly setup for a future confrontation. And the rescued boy—'neither Old Man Su nor his son noticed the flash of cold hostility in his eyes'—this detail is NOT accidental. The author is telling us this boy harbors something dark, and that's a conflict seed being planted. The highest stakes moment is probably when Old Madam Su considers keeping the salt-lingzhi because 'it could even save lives.' She's weighing profit against morality, and the fact that Fu Bao deflates it with 'I heard people say eating it helps you have sons' is both funny and a relief valve. But the underlying tension remains: this family now possesses items of imperial-level value in a world where the court is already demanding extra grain. The power structures around them are hungry. I'm genuinely worried for these people. Not because the plot is threatening them directly, but because the world feels like it will punish kindness. Old Man Su gave a tael of silver to a stranger and the text frames it as 'building good karma for his granddaughter.' The story believes in moral causality, but the world around it does not. That disconnect is where the real conflict lives.
