"Oo nga noh. Oh my gosh. Nafafall na tuloy ako kay kuya manager."
A man was standing in front of us, with its eyebrows up, and an unfriendly smile on his face.
The dialogue in these chapters is so sharp but what really carries it is Jiang Wu's internal monologue. Her voice is completely different from how she speaks out loud. Outwardly she's all "Hubby, you're so reasonable" and trembling pleasantries. Internally she's serving pure venom: "A dignified heir acting like a lapdog—you're far more pitiful than me." Fang Ye's dialogue is also fantastic. He's flirtatious but never crude, and when he says "I don't pick up trash. I only chase after the truly dazzling Black Swan"—that's a line I want framed on my wall. He has this effortless confidence that contrasts perfectly with He Yuanzhou's clipped, controlled speech patterns. He Yuanzhou's dialogue is all subtext. "So you got hurt for another man—just to have an excuse to reject me, is that it?" He's never saying what he actually means. And Jiang Wu's response—"My duty as Mrs. He is not to ask questions about such matters"—that word "duty" hits different every time. The author gives each character a distinct verbal fingerprint and I can tell who's speaking even without tags.
"Mr. Stan!"
Lucas's mind chilled and his hair stood, suddenly he felt and heard the sound of wind slicing in air from behind his back.
Mu Chen smiled and said " I accept!".
Mercia inclined her head ever so slightly.
"-Black Python Martial arts: Poison fingers!-"
Regardless these two became vast friends to my relief and irritation. My suffering at their antics aside we have been secretly preparing for a method that will end this farce of conflict for good.
Freemen kicks in the door with Tail's go-ahead. He launches from his gun spears that explode on contact. The first two monsters never see him coming. Tail fires but misses. The last monster swinges it's tail at her and steals the gun. It snaps its tail out to pick her up, in the same movement throws Freemen on his back. Tail back-steps and raises her hand, throwing a cone of flames from her arm; the beast's oily body burns into nothingness in the stream of flames.
Well not really, she's the one that left, they are still there, living their old life, a life she can't return to because an untimely dead. It's not fair, not one bit.
"Arthur..listen...all of this is an accident..you did it to protect your self."
