All the books in this series are great and I strongly suggest reading them in order. Each one plays right into the next, giving so much more understanding of the characters. I have read these books multiple times and see Chase will be no exception!

Can we talk about Pu Qing for a second? This guy is SO observant. While everyone else is either traumatized or sleeping on the bus, he's sitting there noticing that Jiang Luokui's pocket is bulging weirdly. And then—plot twist—the bus goes through a tunnel and when the reflection appears on the window glass, he actually SEE SOMETHING. Bubu's little carrot head poking out. Now here's the masterstroke: Jiang Luokui isn't even fully awake and she STILL catches him looking. She pushes Bubu back in and casually asks 'Senior Pu Qing, what are you looking at?' Like, cool under pressure. Meanwhile Pu Qing just... deflects with 'nothing.' The tension between them is delicious. He's suspicious but not confrontational. She's hiding something big but not panicked. And the fact that she's a COMBAT student who's apparently into farming on the side? Pu Qing's definitely putting pieces together. Also love that Lin Zihan is over there actively trying to protect Jiang Luokui by telling her to leave the radiation zone, while Jiang Luokui internally was like 'actually I wanted to test whether my spiritual energy flows better here' but just went along with it for Chu Zi'an's sake. The dynamics are shifting and I'm taking notes.
