Bloodicys
There are so many symbols layered into this chapter that I want to unpack, because the author is clearly playing a deeper game than just "princess gets fever and flirts with cold general." Let's start with the tea. Rong Li notices the teapot — nearly empty, coarse leaves she's never seen — and immediately recognizes it as a symbol of Zhan Qin's ascetic lifestyle. This isn't just about hydration; it's about how he chooses to live. She wants to taste it, to understand him, and he takes it away. The tea represents his world, his choices, his self-denial — and he won't let her participate in it. But then he lets her participate in something far more intimate instead. The substitution is deliberate. The jade box is another key symbol. It contains the "Heart-Clearing Ointment" — a translucent, glossy substance with no discernible scent. Jade in Chinese literature traditionally symbolizes purity, nobility, and restrained beauty. The box is hidden in the carriage wall, palm-sized, almost secret. Zhan Qin keeps it close but doesn't flaunt it. It's his version of care — practical, unadorned, effective. He could've bought her something flashy, but he chose something that actually works. The ointment itself is "cooling and calming" — exactly what she needs, exactly what he provides. The military strategy book and the calligraphy are loaded with meaning too. Zhan Qin is a Military Zhuangyuan — the top scorer in the military exams. His handwriting is "bold and vigorous." When Rong Li traces his characters with her fingers, she's literally touching the evidence of his competence, his discipline, his achievements. And then she asks him to write on her skin. The request transforms his instrument of power (the brush) into an instrument of intimacy. She wants to be his canvas, his record, his living document. It's a deeply symbolic act of claiming and being claimed. The "Beauty Scroll" reference is perhaps the most layered symbol in the entire chapter. Rong Li remembers the illustrations from Physician Tan's album — a gentleman using a beauty's body as canvas, tracing ink across skin. She thought it was absurd at the time, but now she sees the parallel. She's become the scroll. He's the artist. And the "meandering ink traces" aren't just physical marks — they're the emotional history between them, written across her skin in a language only they understand. The fever itself is symbolic. In Chinese literature, heat often represents desire, passion, the body's rebellion against social restraint. Rong Li's fever strips away her princessly composure and reveals what she truly wants. It's her body telling the truth that her mind is too proud to speak. And Zhan Qin, the man of discipline and control, is the only one who can cool her — not by extinguishing the fire, but by managing it. The emperor's jade box of rewards, mentioned but never opened — this is the ultimate symbol of power and obligation. The emperor has given Zhan Qin something he hasn't even looked at yet. It represents the state's claim on his loyalty, his service, his life. And Rong Li is competing with that. She's asking for his time, his attention, his affection — things that the emperor could demand away at any moment. The unopened box is a reminder that their love exists under the shadow of political power. Every object in this chapter is doing double duty. Nothing is accidental. The author is building a language of symbols that rewards careful reading.

A emotional one
This is a novel centered around a crematorium setting, but I must warn that readers shouldn't have high expectations for the main love interest's character development. While there might be moments where the ML appears to regret his actions, that's not the primary focus in this story. The characters, far from being one-dimensional, can be quite exasperating. The "wife chasing" plot revolves more around manipulation and forcing the protagonist to reunite with the ML, rather than showcasing the ML's growth or romantic moments.
This is an exceptional novel, capturing the essence of "I'm a Spider, So What?" without feeling like a mere imitation. The characters are uniquely captivating, and the storyline is compelling. I'm eagerly anticipating the next installment, but unfortunately, as of chapter 91, it appears to have been discontinued. I fervently hope that either the translator resumes work on it or another enthusiast takes over, because this gem deserves to be continued.
It got Manhwa adaptation
MC's rizz is on the cosmic levels, man
I don’t want to be mean but I feel the grandma thing is too good timing did you kill her? I’m joking if you didn’t but if you did hit me up and we can discuss our next robbery
Not criticizing the work since I haven't read it myself, I just wanted to say something about the anime.
I remember watching around 6-10 episodes and dropping it around 2 years ago. What had really bothered me back then was the fact that everyone in the world simply ignored the fact that this guy could just beat absolutely anyone and everyone, they kept calling him a loser, a pretentious person trying to trick others to think he was really the demon lord. For ffs, he literally killed and revived someone in front of your eyes. I just couldn't take it and dropped it back then. What I wanna ask is that is there a deeper plot to this whole thing, like were they under some illusion that made them subconsciously ignore his powers? I don't mind spoilers for this one.
Opening song for the anime was a banger, I still listen to it sometimes.
FINISHED IN THREE DAYS.

HELLO DID I MENTION THE MC IS A SELF SACRIFICING B*ST*RD??? HAHA YEAH!!
(the chapters are super short, like shadow slave level of short, my reading speed is average and it took me 5 min for one chapter. Sometimes they were even shorter
