mixed chapters later
Captivating storyline. Appreciate the strength of the female lead and the other good female characters. Chapter 62 is a repeat of Chapter 61. Have a box of Kleenex beside you for Chapters 75 & 76. Loved the Epilogue.
good good good
Updates anytime soon?
5 stars for this very entertaining read!
so funny it's hard to put down!
The stakes in this chapter are suffocatingly real. Lin Qiao'er isn't just afraid of human traffickers—she's surrounded by people who want something from her. Her aunt tried to sell her. The girls on the train want her seat. Zhou Jinhui wants to keep her at arm's length. Even Zhao Chufeng's kindness comes with strings—he's clearly smitten, and his protection might come with expectations. The external conflict is clear: Lin Qiao'er is a young woman alone in a dangerous world, trying to reach Shanghai safely. But the internal conflict is where the real tension lives. She's hungry, tired, afraid, and yet she refuses to compromise her dignity. When she says “No” to the girls, she's not just protecting her ticket—she's protecting her sense of self. The author makes us care because Lin Qiao'er's vulnerability is constant. She's pregnant, she's alone, she's been betrayed by family. Every interaction is a potential threat. Even Wen Shuwan's kindness feels risky—what if this “sister” turns out to be someone who will use her? The suspense is maintained through small moments: the kick in Lin Qiao'er's stomach, the sound of Suisui's voice, the wet patch on the bedding. The author never lets us forget that danger is everywhere. And yet, Lin Qiao'er survives. She endures. She keeps moving. That's what makes this chapter so powerful—it's not about dramatic action, it's about the quiet heroism of staying alive when the world wants you broken.
