I'm really picky about dialogue in novels — if it sounds stiff or artificial, I'm out. But this book? The conversations feel like I'm eavesdropping on real people. Take the exchange between Lian Qiao and her cousin right at the beginning. Yang Chunmei says "You silly girl! You didn't even call ahead." and Lian Qiao just smiles and says she couldn't bear to be away. No drama, no melodrama, just two sisters who love each other talking like actual sisters. It's so simple and it works perfectly. And Li Guozheng — what a character built almost entirely through dialogue. "I'll go to the cafeteria and get a few more dishes." *leaves like a gust of wind*. That's it. That's all we get, and I already know everything about this man. He's a man of few words but his actions speak louder. The author doesn't need to tell us he's kind — we SEE it in how he talks and moves. The Niu Aixiang scene is comedy gold. She just walks in, grabs the soy sauce jug, and leaves. No asking, no waiting for permission. And Yang Chunmei's explanation of who this woman is — delivered with this perfect mix of resignation and mild annoyance — feels exactly like how real people talk about difficult neighbors. But my favorite exchange has to be when Lian Qiao says "Sis, find me a match! The sooner, the better!" and her cousin thinks she's still hung up on her ex. The misunderstanding is funny but also kind of heartbreaking, because underneath the humor is this desperate woman who knows she has maybe one month before her temporary residence expires. The author's voice is warm, observant, and never pretentious. It's the kind of writing that makes you feel like you're chatting with a friend who's telling you about their life.
I have longed for the book two and it's here!!!!!
if you haven't seen the book one, Check "tonight we are young"
Thank you for your reviews. Sadly some are not showing but those that have written a review thank you for the love.
Is this book actually finished?
This is one 9f my favorite books in the app, and one of my favorite authors. I have read it 3 times so far jajaja
Very interesting.. there’s many layers to this book. I haven’t finished but I’m sticking to the end.
The storyline is good however the pacing is kinda rush and there’s a lot of missing information… It was not explained why she kept on being attacked and who’s behind those attacks and what exactly is her curse about and why she was cursed in the first place and who cursed her… Please improve it
Sick not worth it
The initial chapters were entertaining and engaging, but as the story progresses, I can't help but feel that the female lead (FL) comes across as somewhat foolish in her actions. It would be great if she could learn about the contemporary world or gather information independently to better defend herself against the noble ladies. Although her quick thinking in unexpected situations is commendable, it would be more effective if she had a deeper understanding of her adversaries before confronting them. Despite the Duke's instructions for her to appear uneducated, it would still be beneficial for her to learn basic etiquette or familiarize herself with the society she's in.
It irks me that she often passively relies on the Duke's intervention during arguments with the ladies, despite being placed in a spying role within their social circle. The Duke brought her there to observe and gather intel, yet her lack of knowledge seems to hinder her effectiveness. She's supposed to embody an evil persona, but her actions don't reflect that. Given her background as a modern woman and an actress, one would hope she'd understand the importance of gathering information to catch a culprit. While expecting the FL to be overly intelligent might be unrealistic, a more logical storyline would involve some level of preparation, rather than merely focusing on eating, bathing, and sleeping.
As someone who read until end of arc

Warlock was a great read. D*mn now I want to re read. I added others to list.
Also any idea of length of hiatus or just till whenever. Saw it was like a year for last updated on here. Not sure if because of the server issues.
After cultivating for millennia, I broke through some realms today.
