What I appreciated most was how their bond remained sweet and unchanged, despite their personal growth, which was a refreshing aspect of their relationship development.
The main character demonstrated an abysmal lack of qualities typically found in a compelling protagonist. It's hard to believe that the MC feels disgusted with himself for almost harming bandits, when his actions, like nearly allowing a young girl to be kidnapped despite having suspicions about her fate, reveal him to be a truly despicable individual. This is hands down one of the worst protagonist I've come across. Usually, I can tolerate weak MCs for a while, but this one's toxic mindset makes it the worst I've encountered so far.

Jesus, the male lead here is a fokin piece of shit. I regretted ever starting this. Like bruh, idk why this author made the male lead into someone who acts like a male prostitute and sleeps with women here and there. Like, there's this chapter where after doing it with FL the days after he acted like a fokin douchebag and even slept with a prostitute given to him by the crown prince. FL even got a fever but he had the audacity to take that prostitute out on a date.. I so badly wished that Ning Mingjie was the male lead for the FL, he honestly didn't so much more male lead actions than that piece of shit Ning Yuxuan. I feel so stressed out after this.Sure it has a happy ending but the actions of the male lead on halfway through the story was too disgusting and I can't see him in a good light. I also gotta say, our FL is quite dumb. There's already so much things she knows and she's read the book too, she had the advantage but in the end she still couldn't think straight or properly and followed the wishes of that pathetic Nie woman's spirit, like..
