I read this primarily due to my interest in the main character (MC). She's adorable, quirky, and surrounded by a group of equally silly yet lovable friends. She possesses exceptional skills, but not to an overly exaggerated degree.
The story initially had potential, but I deducted stars for a few aspects. The premise of the "fake" relationship between the MC, who is 10-14 years old, and the male lead (ML), aged 16-21, as siblings for four years was difficult to accept. The sudden shift from sibling affection to romantic love felt abrupt, particularly for the ML, whose feelings developed after a time skip. If the ML had openly acknowledged his awareness of her true identity and intended to protect her from a young age, their relationship might have transitioned more smoothly. Additionally, the MC's understanding of sibling boundaries was confusing and sometimes uncomfortable.
Another issue was the physical intimacy between the ML and MC when he started perceiving her as a woman, despite her still viewing him as her brother. Even though they were not legally adults, these actions were inappropriate. Although the MC didn't seem to mind internally, she never communicated her feelings to him, which made it appear as if the ML was crossing boundaries without consideration. I found these scenes challenging to read.
Despite these concerns, the story still offered an entertaining read with its engaging drama and occasional moments of relief through the MC's calculated revenge. There were also character developments, such as redemption and self-discovery, which added depth to the narrative. Overall, while not perfect, the story maintained its appeal for me.
I have a deep affection for the protagonist. He feels incredibly relatable, like someone you could encounter in real life - someone who appears emotionally detached on the surface and keeps his feelings bottled up. What I appreciate is the insight into his younger days and how his past experiences shaped him, both breaking him down and fostering his growth. The way his past trauma is portrayed is authentic, not exaggerated for dramatic effect; it's a subtle part of his character that unfolds gradually. This character is multi-layered and intricate.
In terms of plot complexity, while I haven't seen anything quite like this in the BL genre, perhaps MXTX's works come closest, although they have a distinctively different tone and character dynamics. This story is slower-paced, plot-driven, and leans more towards a serious and less lighthearted atmosphere. I find it soothing and engaging. Among the Korean webnovels I've read, ORV stands out as comparably complex, but with less emphasis on character development. Overall, I believe this work excels in character depth and development, ranking among the top-notch in its category.

Might have a potential, but I'll hold it at ch 48. It seems that everybody suddenly just fell in love and admire the FL when she didn't do that much... it's quite illogical for me. I expect something more heartwarming and heart to heart approach, especiaply with Ji Ning's case, but... that's it... so for now I'll go and find another novel. Will get back (maybe) if I didn't find anything worthwhile
