I have long been a fan of the novelist, and this particular book stands out from their other creations. The narrative unfolds beautifully and tragically, particularly in its initial chapters. It captured my attention so much that I read through it using minimal translation, allowing the emotions to resonate. The story evoked both laughter and tears throughout, making it a highly compelling read. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a chance.
The novel is indeed a masterful work, but I am currently disappointed with the author for a particular reason. Initially, I hesitated to voice my concern, but now it's getting quite frustrating. The author seems to be targeting Roswyn unfairly. Initially, her overbearing behavior annoyed me, but I hoped that her assistance system would improve her situation. However, lately, it's unclear why the author is persistently making her life difficult. Even after the third trial, other female characters began showing interest in Frey, but Roswyn remains the odd one out with her negative attitude, despite having supposedly undergone the same experiences. When she eventually discovers and utilizes her system, she loses her Glare ability, gets demoted to a mere observer, and loses her purpose. If a character becomes redundant, it's understandable to move on, but the author continues to emphasize her misery, perhaps due to running out of ways to torment Frey and focusing on Roswyn instead.
As someone who cares about Roswyn, my perspective might be biased, but I'm fed up with witnessing her struggles. If anyone has insights into the ending, I would be grateful to know how her story concludes – whether she finds happiness or not.
What a letdown! I had high expectations for this novel based on all the reviews, but it turned out to be a massive disappointment. The protagonist's character development was a major issue. The author tried to paint him as a cold, emotionless figure, but he displayed guilt, friendship, even anger and desire. The excuse given for his actions was a forced promise, and the character never faced setbacks – it felt like a smooth ride, thanks to the supporting male lead's constant assistance.
The supporting characters lacked depth. A minor spoiler: Zhuge An, surprisingly, turned out to be the deceased teacher. As for Xu Su, he grated on my nerves. His sole purpose seemed to be weeping uncontrollably due to the loss of his lover, Xu Sen. He relied heavily on the MC and their friendship felt implausible, given their initial encounter in the dungeon where Xu Su was barely noticeable.
There were numerous plot holes too. For instance, in Las Vegas, how did the MC, Zong Jiu, acquire the 20,000 points after the initial 10,000? It was unclear if he traded an S-class item or not. Additionally, the main system's objective was to return to a higher plane, so how did it end up in a lower one? Lastly, the MC's transmigration into the book itself remained unexplained.
The writing was inconsistent, with the author introducing concepts without providing satisfactory explanations. Unfortunately, despite my hope for a compelling ending, the novel failed to deliver and was a waste of my time.
I thoroughly disliked it. The romantic aspect felt contrived; the male lead (ML) appeared to manipulate the child for his own gain, whereas the female lead (FL) seemed to have no other option due to her love for her son. Given that the child's existence was a result of a manipulative scheme, this issue was inadequately addressed or given little attention.
Is there romance in the novel. I'm a s*ck*r for it?
cause i think i liked it...but i'll wait until i see it being updated again. Though i believe this may be the end of this novel...sadly
