Okay so I need to talk about Ling Yixi because THIS MAN. He is absolutely my favorite type of character—the one who's been overlooked his whole life and just desperately wants to do right by someone. The scene where he gets pushed into the pond by three-year-old Xiao Ling Bao and instead of being mad he's just... forming a secret alliance with her? I lost it. "Ling Bао will protect you!" and he's just crying on the bridge because she's so cute. The fact that he almost confessed to his dad about ruining the name change note, then got saved by the Hong family showing up at the worst possible moment—his whole arc is just this sweet, pathetic, lovable guy who finally gets a chance to be someone's hero. And the grandfather's reaction! "A grown man, crying like that?" while Ling Yixi is literally falling apart because he's the only one who knows Xiao Ling Bao is the family's only hope and he just messed it up. The dynamic between him and Xiao Ling Bao is everything. She sees through everything, calls him "silly uncle," and still chooses to cover for him. That's not just cute—that's genuine emotional bonding. Meanwhile the rest of the family treats her like a tool and he treats her like a person. Classic setup for him to become the most important person in her life.
