I was craving for his proposal...finally❤️ it was amazing
it's rare you get a book with a proper story that involves drama and adventure and not going over 100 chapters and going around in circles. well written. I definitely recommend this book. good job author.
I'm still processing the emotional devastation of this chapter and I need to get it out. The moment that absolutely wrecked me was Su Ran's internal monologue when Lu Yitang reveals the four-million-tael truth. Su Ran isn't just thinking about her husband—she's thinking about her father and brothers "beneath the Nine Springs." *The mountains and rivers you once defended, I too can contribute my strength now.* This changes everything. She wasn't funding the war just as a wife supporting her husband. She was doing it for her dead family, for the soldiers who fought, for the common people who wanted peace. Her loyalty was to the realm, not to the man who betrayed her. And he never knew. He never once considered that her actions might come from somewhere deeper than wifely duty. The romance subplot with Xie Chengyuan is building this quiet, aching tension that's so much more compelling than the toxic Shen Que dynamic. Remember this line: "The woman he dared not delay for even a moment was now being trampled by others." He was critically ill, she saved him, and from that moment he's been carrying this protective, almost reverent feeling toward her. Watching him from the pavilion as she's publicly humiliated—the fury in his eyes, the nearly-crushed teacup—this is love that has been simmering for years, probably since before either of them fully understood it. Meanwhile Nan Lexi's performance of weakness—swaying, pressing her temple, collapsing against Shen Que—is so calculated and it makes my skin crawl. The moment Lu Yitang calls her out and she instantly revives "as if injected with chicken blood" is both horrifying and darkly comedic. The emotional core of this chapter is really about who sees Su Ran and who doesn't. Shen Que never saw her. Xie Chengyuan sees her completely. And that's the wound that runs deepest.
