I absolutely fell in love with this story! The author did an exceptional job weaving it together. It was a heartwarming, light-hearted, and humorous tale. The interactions between characters were adorable, and I found the main character (MC) endearing. Despite being a fantasy novel, the story felt quite realistic. It had a strong plot backbone despite its fluffy nature. The MC displayed intelligence and resourcefulness, but her reluctance to personally harm others due to her modern upbringing resonated with me, even if it might seem contradictory to some. There was a balance of drama and challenge, as we witnessed the MC navigate the palace intrigues. What stood out was her ability to connect with both children and adults, choosing to embrace her adult soul without neglecting her youthful companions. The character development throughout the story was commendable, adding depth to each character. The author skillfully conveyed the warmth of the imperial family dynamics while not shying away from the harsh realities of power. Overall, it was a delightful read. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Firstly, I'm evaluating the original Japanese web novel (WN) alone, as I haven't read the translation. Frankly, this ranks among the poorest-written WNs I've encountered recently. The glaring absence of punctuation was highly confusing, and I seriously doubt the author had a grasp on its use from the beginning.
The narrative structure and pacing were inconsistent, with numerous time skips that should have been used to introduce and develop characters and their relationships within the first ten chapters. The story's theme, initially revolving around a witch seeking a peaceful life and relying on the protagonist, a mercenary, for guidance, seemed promising. I had anticipated a journey reminiscent of "Spice and Wolf."
However, the story devolved into a shallow series of time jumps, leading up to a supposed sanctuary, only to potentially become a generic "adventurer quest" afterwards. Judging solely based on the English translation, which I briefly glanced at, the translator did manage to improve some aspects of the source material, acting as an editor.
Unfortunately, as I prefer to stick with the original, I can only conclude that this is a bland and poorly written WN, not worth further investment of time.
