I enjoy female protagonist cultivation novels, but this one feels quite bland and unengaging. The concept of the events deviating from the original plot is intriguing, and the main character (MC) seems to strive to keep the story as close to the original as possible. However, the MC herself doesn’t come across as particularly strong, intelligent, or likable. The male lead (ML), despite being portrayed as a genius and powerful cultivator, is petty and small-minded. So far, he has been antagonistic toward the MC, and it’s not in an "enemies to lovers" kind of way. He’s just annoying and lacks any charm. Aside from a few side characters, the sect doesn’t feel like a place where one could cultivate immortality or grow stronger. Most of the people there are caricatures, either decidedly good or bad, with no nuance in between. There are no real consequences when bad people do bad things, but when the MC acts, everyone scrutinizes her intensely. The MC notes that the original author of the novel was a man who seemed to dislike women, as all the female characters he wrote are either looking to leech off men or are cold and abstinent (who eventually end up in a harem). I’d say the same about the author of this novel. The author seems to stereotype women and struggles to write them convincingly.
Why always nice novel will always get dropped because how they got many so view but it suppress because of something like jealousy or the contract is not satisfide need more profit and suppressed it or make complicated excuse so they can suppressed it.
This novel is a mix of Investiture of The Gods and modern xianxia. Pretty much everything in the novel is recycled from either Investiture of The Gods or modern xianxias like BTTH and honestly it does neither well, aside from the very beginning of the novel which is really good.
The plot evolves with people being captured and Gu Hai rescuing them over and over again, that or him helping them with something. There's quite literally nothing else aside from what happens in between when he's doing one of those two things — sometimes both simultaneously, believe it or not.
I didn't bother to count, but I'm pretty sure people got captured over 20 times in less than 500 chapters... Sometimes he rescues someone and they get captured again right after. No, I'm not joking.
His personality is basically "being smart" and "being good", but his "being smart" is just an overly-forced plot armor which is cool at the beginning, but gets old quite fast because it feels way too forced.
