She should definitely reject that dickhead and have a second chance mate. And leave that fking useless mate and her so called family for ever. She should reside and join another pack and not live with the ones who cause her nothing but pain.
Wow! This so so interesting.
Okay so this whole arc with the medical book is genuinely gripping and I need to talk about it. The Huo family is in such a desperate spot—Father Huo's leg is broken, they're poor as church mice, and then Ning Yuchan just *finds* this ancient prescription book like it was waiting for them. The stakes immediately go through the roof because if she succeeds, not only does Father Huo get his leg saved, but Old Man Ning's old injury might be treatable too, and the whole family could become prosperous. That's a lot of hope resting on one girl who barely knows how to read medicinal ingredients. What I love is how the plot keeps layering complications. First they can't make the medicine because no one knows how. Then they can't afford the ingredients. Then they have to keep it a secret from literally everyone, including Huo Changshou, which is honestly the smartest move because that guy is a loose cannon. And when they go to the city, the gate guard scene with Liu Hansheng giving Ning Yuchan two taels of silver—this feels like it's setting up something. Authors don't just drop free money from handsome single guards for no reason. I'm already suspicious. But then the Changsheng reveal hits like a truck. Everyone who went on that mission died. Not a single one returned. And Mother Huo didn't even know—she's been clinging to hope this whole time. The way Mother Huo explains how he was tricked into enlisting by having a bug thrown on his face while sitting on a burning kang... that's both absurd and heartbreaking. The plot is doing so much heavy lifting here, connecting the family's current suffering to past betrayals.
