Good read. Other than having some typos, this is a very interesting story.
The stakes in this passage operate on three levels and they're all working overtime. First, the immediate external stakes: the apocalypse arrives tomorrow. Every hour counts. She needs a storage space to survive, and the only way to get it is to raise He Xiao's favorability by 40 points in a single day. That's an absurdly tight deadline and the author knows it — which is why the tension is so palpable. Second, the interpersonal stakes: He Xiao is already conflicted. He's physically attracted to her (his body betrays him constantly), morally confused (she drugged him before), professionally bound (her father hired him), and personally repelled (she's annoying and shameless). Every interaction between them is a minefield. Third, the internal stakes for Sheng He: she's a transmigrator who died violently in her previous life and is now navigating a world where she has no real power except her wits. The system threatens to bind her to a new host if she fails — so even her survival as a consciousness is on the line. What makes this work is that the author never lets us forget the ticking clock. The apocalypse isn't a backdrop — it's a gun pressed to the story's temple. And yet the most compelling conflict isn't man vs. world, it's man vs. himself. He Xiao wants to leave that bathroom a hundred times. He doesn't. That's the real suspense — not whether the world will end, but whether he'll finally crack and admit what he feels.

I'm gonna say it. I laughed so hard when they got to know each other and cried so much when she had the accident, but loved every single bit of this story. Congrats, it was an awesome read
