The pacing in this section is genuinely impressive and I want to talk about how the author controls the reader's heartbeat. Chapter 9 opens with something almost domestic — Zhao Guihua trying toffee, the children eating jelly, a warm family dinner scene. It's gentle. It's cozy. And then Lin Mengting walks in and the entire tone SHATTERS. One moment you're smiling at Dabao cautiously poking the jelly, the next you're reading about a woman getting her lip split. That transition is the author's signature move. They lull you into comfort and then rip it away. The confrontation scene itself is paced perfectly — each line of dialogue escalates the tension until the second slap, which is the climax, and then Lin Mengting's reveal about the engagement acts as a secondary peak before Lin Yuming dismantles it with the observation about old clothes. Then Chapter 10 opens with the quietest possible scene — morning light, children still sleeping, Yin Chiyan returning. The injury reveal comes almost casually, which makes it hit harder. The wound-cleaning scene is deliberately slow, almost meditative, after the chaos of the previous chapter. It gives the reader space to breathe while deepening the emotional stakes. The chapter ends with Lin Yuming heading back to sell candy, which is a brilliant structural choice — it circles back to the opening domesticity but now with different emotional weight. We know what's at stake. We know what she's fighting for. The pacing doesn't rush, doesn't drag, and the scene transitions feel natural rather than forced.
Definitely adding to library...

Regarding the story, I don't have much to comment. Initially, I wished for a more engaging plot to satiate my interest, but I'm unsure what exactly was missing. The story was decent, but I would've appreciated delving deeper into the reason behind Tang Tang and JZ's breakup. That was my motivating factor to finish it, but it didn't eventuate. Now, I don't feel strongly about the ending – it neither disappoints nor surprises me. I'd rate it around 2 or 3 stars, although I accidentally gave it one initially.
I did enjoy Tang Tang's unique abilities and JZ's character, which set them apart from typical choices in zombie apocalypse narratives. The system space is a common feature in these stories, but it stood out.
As for a minor point, I understand if others disagree, but I didn't find it strange for JZ to forgive Tang Tang, treat them kindly, and still want to protect them. They were once partners, so their bond wasn't severed solely because of the breakup.
Tang Tang's fear that JZ might abandon them to the zombies was a system-generated concern, which made me doubt JZ's actual intentions. Such an action, even during the apocalypse, seemed quite extraordinary. To me, JZ's continued love and desire to keep Tang Tang safe seemed more plausible than a complete rejection.
In summary, while the story didn't fully meet my expectations, there were elements I appreciated, particularly the characters' dynamics.
This is hands down the most fantastic Chinese novel I've ever come across! The storyline is simply incredible; I found myself reading it compulsively because I couldn't tear myself away. The writing is exceptional, and I haven't encountered anything quite like it before. If anyone has a similar recommendation, I'd be thrilled. The concept is groundbreaking, starting as a transmigration tale and evolving into an awe-inspiring narrative about gods and the protagonist's quest to become a goddess. All in all, I highly recommend this book without reservation – a full 100 out of 100!
