I need to talk about the bedroom scene because my hands are literally shaking. This is the moment where everything Fu Yanci has been pretending falls apart and what's left underneath is genuinely terrifying. He says 'when you cry, my heart shatters' and for one desperate second you think—maybe he does love her, maybe this violence is just passion gone wrong. But then he says the next line and it all comes crashing down: 'If you insist on being with Mu Huaixu, every day from now on will be like this.' This isn't love. This is ownership with a heartbeat. And the worst part? Shen Shuli realizes it too. She spent fifteen years believing she knew him, that she was the one person who saw behind his mask. The line 'Only today did she realize how utterly wrong she had been'—that's not just about this moment, that's the death of her entire worldview. She's not just losing a husband, she's losing the story she told herself about her own life. What broke me was the contrast with earlier Fu Yanci, the one who was 'considerate of her feelings, careful not to hurt her even slightly.' That man is gone. Or maybe he was never real. And Shen Shuli is pregnant—she can't even escape physically because carrying his child makes her more trapped than ever. The emotional cruelty here is so precise it's almost surgical.
