So luv dis book
why no more chapters to read?
can not wait for the other chapters
intriguing, captivating
There's something really interesting happening with the symbolism of money and power in these chapters, and I can't stop thinking about it. The gold isn't just wealth—it's LIFE itself. Jiang Zhaoxue keeps calling it "life-saving money" ("This is the life-saving money for your prince that I just took back"). The medicine accounts were being stolen while the prince was literally dying. So the gold represents something far heavier than currency: it's the difference between breathing and not breathing. And the act of taking it—breaking into the accounting office, kicking the door open—this is about reclaiming agency. The Dowager Consort had been controlling everything: the keys, the medicine, the food. The prince was dying not because there was no money, but because the people in power chose to let him die. Jiang Zhaoxue's rebellion is fundamentally about who gets to decide who lives and who dies. The contamination of the medicine is another layer. It's not just negligence—it's intentional poisoning disguised as routine service. The people who were supposed to nurture him were the ones killing him. And when Jiang Zhaoxue exposes this, she's not just firing servants, she's exposing a system where the most vulnerable person in the household (the bedridden prince) is being slowly murdered by the very people meant to protect him. "Rules are made by living people," she says. This line keeps echoing in my head. It's a philosophy, not just a plot point. The old rules protected the corrupt. Breaking them isn't lawlessness—it's justice.
