I can’t wait for more chapters to this book. It’s really getting good.
Okay so this author drops a literal bomb at the end of the chapter and I am NOT okay. The dreams Gu Ningxi has—those intimate, scorching scenes in the palace—feel SO real, right? Like we're supposed to think this is a rebirth story where she's reliving her past life. But then BAM: "This is not a rebirth story—just a dream of a past life." A dream. Not a second chance. Not a do-over. Just... memories bleeding through? That changes EVERYTHING about how we should read her reactions. And then there's the banquet scene, which is basically the plot's spine for this whole chapter. Prince Zhao gets elevated to Super First Rank, gets minting rights, eight or nine official titles—Emperor Mingde is basically building him into a threat. Meanwhile the Crown Prince's faction is sitting there smiling while their hearts sink. Classic political tension setup. The author is playing 4D chess with court politics here. Xie Qian showing up as the young general who looks exactly like the man from her dreams? That's a plot thread I need to pull on immediately. Is it coincidence? Is it fate? Or is the author setting up some kind of identity reveal that's going to blow my mind? The dream figure was called "General Xie" too. Coincidence? I think not. Also the Crown Prince Lu Heng—seems decent on the surface, tells her to rest when she looks unwell, but there's something underneath. The text mentions he's "the impeccable Crown Prince" which in these novels ALWAYS means he's hiding something. And his mother Empress Yao vs. Prince Zhao's dead mother Empress Zhen? That's a rivalry waiting to explode.
Good and everything is clear
Another thrilling story from one of my favorite authors. If you like fantasy novels that can make you feel a wide range of emotions, incorporating detailed action scenes, witty humor, and the steamy stuff that'll make you blush this is the book for you. Muse always delivers an amazing adventure!
