What a great book. Definitely a must read
Okay so I need to talk about this scene where You Chumu casually drops the bomb that he'd kill the cotton candy guy. Like, this kid just said it with such an innocent face and Xu Chi's entire body went rigid. The text literally says "His hands and feet went weak, and he even started trembling." That's not a normal reaction to a kid being weird—that's a reaction to realizing you're sitting across from a complete psychopath. And then You Chumu follows up with "Then I'll just kill whoever locks me in jail too." With a SMILE. A relaxed smile! Xu Chi is trapped in a room with someone who has zero moral framework whatsoever. The plot has shifted from "what if the superpowered person doesn't come back" to "I am living with a monster and there is literally no escape." What's interesting is the power dynamic. Xu Chi keeps trying to assert control—telling You Chumu to stay home, going to the management office to find a solution—but every time he tries, You Chumu just... follows. The kid is like a shadow. "It's too dangerous outside. I have to stay with brother." That line is supposed to sound sweet but it's actually terrifying. Xu Chi is completely trapped. The management office scene was also wild. The male officer literally says "Then he'll stay for a month" like it's no big deal. This world is so broken that abandoning a dangerous superpowered individual to a random stranger is just... normal bureaucracy? Xu Chi slamming his fist on the counter and then immediately apologizing and picking up the papers—that's the whole dynamic right there. He's angry but he can't afford to be.
Really liking the background plots too. Lots of twists and great fleshed-out characters.

Love the book. I couldn’t put it down . Would love to read about the next story line with Damien Fai and Olive. I was hoping to hear more on Brenda and Ryan too.
