it's really annoying when the mc's thoughts and the mc's statements both use the " " because you only realize too late that they are thoughts instead of statements. that means if his thoughts occur between conversations it completely destroys the mood and flow. it's better just when it go for

Like many lightnovels, Gourmet Food Supplier reeks of Chinese nationalism, although it tries (and fails) to be subtle about it.
Yuan Zhou aspires to be a master chef. Ok. Cool. You would expect that a master chef would like to learn and "master" every dish out there. Yet whenever the MC learns a western dish (a rarity), he internally rants about "damned capitalism" and other such bs about why foreign dishes are inferior versions of more authentic, Chinese dishes.
If the author is familiar with Chinese cuisine and thinks it is the best food out there, why not make Yuan Zhou the "Chinese Master Chef," or just be blatant and make the MC say that "Chinese food = best food, therefore Master Chef = someone who can cook Chinese dishes."
Again, like many others, this author wants to portray that they are an unbiased source, and simultaneously convey that China rules and every other country sucks. Sorry, but both of those statements just cannot be true.

This is so good! Like Olooki before me (thanks for the review that led me to reading this gem!), I started with the first few translated chapters, then read the rest of the novel using Google Translate.
No misunderstandings, no unnecessary drama, no contrived accidents to drive the plot. The characters are excellent communicators and have a deep understanding of each other. Even when their feelings aren't mutual, they are aware of this and give their consent. They also respect each other's pasts, waiting patiently for the other to share when they're ready, without pushing.
A significant part of the novel focuses on their love while navigating the challenges of doing business in a growing economy. It also delves into the social issues of the time, such as the need to hide their relationship, which was considered illegal under the broad term "hooliganism," a law that wasn't repealed until 1997.

It was truly touching when the law was finally removed, and the first thing they thought of doing was walking outside, holding hands openly for the first time after being married for 14 years.

Another aspect I appreciated about the novel is that while the main character is powerful and talented, his skills and knowledge are well-explained by his background and interests. He doesn't simply copy works from the future but creates his own original content, leveraging his foresight to produce something fresh and innovative.
At first, I was hesitant to read this novel due to the bullying comments and the common theme of female protagonists dealing with jealous women. However, with my reading options dwindling, I decided to give it a chance. Although the bullying scenes were harsh and quickly resolved due to the short chapters, the protagonist's resilient attitude towards abuse truly captivated me. She displayed maturity beyond her teenage peers, focusing on survival and fulfilling the host's goals rather than romantic entanglements. The action, drama, and a strong, non-glamorous heroine made each of the 53 chapters engaging and well-written. The translation is excellent, and the storytelling flows smoothly. Overall, I highly recommend this novel – unless you're solely seeking a love-centric story, you won't be disappointed.

Honestly I’m not a fan of the whole “reincarnated directly into a relationship” (really just reincarnation stuff in general. It’s a decent plot device but it’s usually not used properly. It gives the mc an outsiders perspective which adds a lot of possibilities, but so would amnesia, being from a foreign place, a sudden change in lifestyle, or just straight up a recluse or sheltered child to name a few. Not to mention an outsider perspective isn’t always necessary, even if it is a bit easier to write. Reincarnation should be saved for when it’s actually important, like the mc having a relevant past life like trash of the counts family or return of mount hua. Otherwise amnesia serves the same purpose for the most part. Or maybe they actually are trying to return home which adds a goal) thing but the reviews and comments seem really positive so I’m going to check it out. Honestly it seems wholesome just from the concept, and I am desperate for good Yaoi which is kind of rare.

The mc became too sexist for me like he treats his wives so fucking poorly and attribute it to his fucking pride as a fucking emperor and as a man it's too much for me. Disgusting. His first fucking wife just cried because he fucked her sister and he didn't fucking apologized and he even said he would do it if it was presented again like wtf simply bullshit i liked the story at the start but this is too much fuck you author.
One of the worst novels. The ML is a pedophile. Eeewwww. This is not even considered worst novel. Its more of a trash. Some novels are very bad but this tops it all. The ML is nothing but an old cow wanting to eat a young grass and even has no qualms in hurting the only relative of the FL. He doesn’t have a manners nor humanity in him. As i said trash. ????.
