The book does not match the synopsis. Damon’s loved ones which includes his sister Grace, are killed in chapter 2. She hardly made an appearance. The story follows Damon as he’s taken alive and there’s a lot of new people introduced all the way up to chapter 87.
So far good read . Some mistakes and misspellings and extra letters . I Am very intrigued.. Would love to see more then one chapter. Will come back when it advances forward…

I need to talk about the palace maids because THIS is how you write servant characters without making them interchangeable. Su Ran is clearly the leader—composed, cautious, the one who notices when her mistress's breathing changes and immediately exchanges looks with the others. She's the one handling makeup AND managing the money box. That's a trust position. The author is telling us something important: Su Ran is the steady hand, the one Fu Lingxi can rely on for operational things. Then there's Xu Duo—the chirpy youngest one who literally can't read the room. She's the one happily counting out the other candidates' ranks like it's a fun game, completely missing the tension in the air. And Fu Lingxi immediately spots this and assigns her to INFORMATION GATHERING. Because you know what? The best spy is the one nobody takes seriously. Xu Duo's transparency is her weapon. And Zi Luan—her hairstyle is noted as excellent, and she's put in charge of meals AND coordinating with Su Ran on clothing and accessories. She's the glue between the other two, the one who makes sure everything works together. But the real relationship moment is when Fu Lingxi tells them: 'In Yikun Palace, I have only one requirement: loyalty.' And watch how each one reacts differently. Su Ran is solemn, Zi Luan is composed, but Xu Duo literally lights up with joy. The author is giving us three completely different loyalty styles right here. Also—the Second Princess Tongyi appearing at the end? That 'Eh? Who are you? Why are you blocking my way?' line? I'm already predicting this kid is going to be either Fu Lingxi's unexpected ally or a chaotic force she has to navigate. Either way, I'm invested.
