interesting story
Five stars are actually not enough to rate this book! The female lead really is kick ass, strong and independent but also caring and considerate just how heroines should be. And the male lead is respectful and strong and the story is just perfect and worth every coin tenfold. Mana never disappoints!
Well, I’ve enjoyed the 61 chapters available. I’m going to save up coins in the hopes that more chapters are coming. Please keep writing!

Okay so let me just say — the opening trade scene is genuinely brilliant plotting. Liao Sheng walks into Zhou Xiaomei's house, sees a radio, and turns it into a negotiation that benefits literally everyone except maybe Han Dongyuan's future peace of mind. The author here is doing something really smart: every character gets what they want. Zhou Xiaomei gets trading material for her dowry (prestige at her wedding), Cheng Ning and Min Ran get basins and daily goods they actually need, and Liao Sheng gets to play the middleman without losing face. It's a closed loop of mutual benefit, and that's rare in fiction. But then the real plot pivot hits when Zhao Zhi and Gu Jingwen show up. They want the same thing — supplies — and Zhou Xiaomei basically runs them out of the house. The contrast between how Cheng Ning was received versus how these two were treated isn't subtle, but it's effective. The author is building a clear cause-and-effect chain: Cheng Ning's straightforwardness and fairness earned trust; Zhao Zhi's entitlement and Gu Jingwen's coldness earned nothing. This isn't just character work, it's plot mechanics. Then comes the mat-weaving scene, and the plot does another turn with Zhao Zhi cutting her hand. This injury becomes the catalyst for everything that follows — Liao Sheng bringing gloves, the village women's shifting attitudes, and ultimately the martyr's child reveal. The author is threading multiple plot lines through a single physical event, which is efficient storytelling. The reveal that Cheng Ning is a martyr's orphan reframes every interaction that came before it. The village women's warmth wasn't random — it was earned through a background that carried genuine social weight in this setting. What I found most satisfying was how the plot doesn't just move forward but deepens. Each scene adds a new layer of information that retroactively changes how we understand previous scenes. That's good plotting.

My first experience with this author was alpha Logan then the surprised beta. I found that I love the world that this author created. I then found the alpha of nightmares and that was wonderful. normally I do not read any book that is ongoing, but I cannot wait for new chapters to come out.
