Before the manga adaptation, I ventured into this novel, but I couldn't finish due to a common issue that readers have criticized. The excessive information dumps felt repetitive, cumbersome, and detracted from the storytelling. Despite the intriguing premise, the narrative style leaned heavily towards telling rather than showing, akin to "Kingdom" set in a fantastical world with a different objective.
The novel's reliance on exposition left me wanting more, which is why I found the manga version much more enjoyable. They managed to trim the excessive details and shifted focus on political intrigue and tactical aspects, even incorporating occasional yet effective information drops. Perhaps the difference lies in the format; the visuals of the manga make the "show, don't tell" approach more engaging.

this is honestly garbage every single chapter has some form of shitty conflict and it is getting old. The young masters and face slapping is in every chapter same characters different names same situations different chapter.
I know I've read this before the Great Reset but I forgot the story... I want to try reading it again but the rape tags make me uncomfortable
