Here's what's wild about this chapter: the stakes are simultaneously the highest they've ever been and the most intimate they've ever been, and the author treats them with equal weight. On one level, Sheng He is preparing for the end of the world. She has a system. She has thirty days. She's moving supplies into a storage space. She's sending emergency food to her employees' families. This is survival-level tension. On another level, a man who hasn't cried since he was six years old is sitting across from her, eyes red, holding a plate of scrambled eggs like it's the most precious thing he's ever been given. His entire emotional armor is cracking in real time. And the genius is that these two conflict tracks are feeding each other. The apocalypse is coming, which means Sheng He needs his favorability to unlock her storage space, which means she has to reach him emotionally before the world ends. The external deadline raises the stakes of the internal emotional journey, and the emotional breakthrough raises the stakes of the survival plot. It's a loop, and it's tight. But what really gets me is the quiet conflict underneath everything—Sheng He's guilt. She deceived him. She used him. And yet she's also the only person who's ever made him feel seen. The text doesn't shy away from this tension: "Remembering how she'd deceived him without showing the slightest remorse still irritated him." She knows it. He knows it. And neither of them stops. That's the real stakes here—not whether they'll survive the apocalypse, but whether this connection is built on something real or just manipulation. And honestly? I don't know yet, and that's what keeps me turning pages.
Awesome read and very well written. Quite an adventure!! You won't be disappointed.

I love the story, but a lot of writing mistakes. Still, a good book
con. p2, for not informing Ella about his search for her dad. He should have given her notice about his intentions. Above all, he should have given her the power to decide how to proceed. Ella is a reasonable, intelligent woman who would have probably come around to Javier's idea to look for her dad
very interesting now the story, can't wait for the next chapter to release ............
