I would love to read the (or a) chapter where Bailey first discovers that Grey is her mate. I don’t know if you intended to skip that part of the story or if it is a hiccup in the way chapters are loaded.

I need to talk about the conflict between He Yingying and Ma Dahua because this is where the tension in the novel really heats up. On the surface it is just two neighbors exchanging passive aggressive comments in the morning. But underneath, the stakes are enormous. Ma Dahua has spent years suffering because she did not have a son. She was abused, humiliated, nearly abandoned. And now that she finally has a son, she sees He Yingying living a life she always wanted and it is eating her alive. He Yingying has a daughter but her husband dotes on her, her mother-in-law treats her like a daughter, they have a comfortable apartment, a bicycle, and a happy life. Ma Dahua has a son but her family is in debt, she gave up her job, and she still feels like she has to serve her husband like an emperor. The contrast is brutal and Ma Dahua knows it. What makes this conflict so compelling is that neither woman is entirely wrong or entirely right. Ma Dahua is jealous and cruel, but her suffering is real. She endured years of abuse for something she could not control. He Yingying is happy and successful, but she has never had to fight for her place in the world the way Ma Dahua did. The author is not painting this as a simple good versus evil story. This is about two women who are trapped by the same patriarchal system, one who won and one who lost, and how that creates resentment that could spiral out of control. And the stakes keep rising. Qiao Heping is plotting revenge against the Hu family. Ma Dahua is already hostile toward He Yingying. The creditors are coming. What happens when all of these conflicts collide? I am genuinely worried for these characters now. The author has set up a powder keg and I cannot wait to see it blow up.
