Lovely book I really enjoyed it
Let's talk about tension, because this author knows how to build it. Chapter 1 starts with a carriage ride that's already uncomfortable, a girl who's been displaced from her own world, and within the first few paragraphs you're already on edge. She doesn't know where she is. She doesn't know what's happening. She's nine years old and completely alone. And the author just... keeps piling it on. First she's dragged by a dark-skinned woman. Then locked in a room. Then fed strange porridge. Then dressed in red silk. Then shoved into a carriage for half a day. Then led through gate after gate after gate — fifth? sixth? — until she's lost count. Each transition is faster than the last, like the story itself is breathing harder, more desperate. And then the medicine smell. The masked people. The door closing behind her with that loud BANG that echoes in the text like a gunshot. No one told her what to do. No one explained anything. She's just... left there. With him. The stakes are absurdly high and also terrifyingly mundane. If the prince dies, what happens to Jinzi? If he wakes up, what happens? If he doesn't wake up, what happens? Nobody is going to come get her. Nobody knows she's missing in this timeline. She's a village girl with a rustic name and favorable birth chart — replaceable, disposable, a tool for a ritual. But here's what really gets me: the prince. He's been through smallpox. He's been through fever. He's been through variolation. And now he's lying there, barely alive, and this tiny girl in red silk is sitting at the foot of his bed. The story is setting up this impossible situation — a dying boy and a girl from another world, both children, both used by adults who see them as means to an end. And then he opens his eyes. What happens next? I need to know. I need to know right now.
got caught up right from the synopsis....good work...
Love this book!
I hope Kyle will found Gabrielle soon...............
Good novel
I'm really tired of this scenario! everytime there's a new female character she will then want to marry James! Author it has been more than 2500 chapters still the same idea???!!! Feels like you're intentionally making Thea disappear so James can marry someone else!
okay... I'm now addicted to this series! now I need to find the next book!
why is it dragging out
Great read. It has a engaging narrative that creates a Escape for a little romance and adventure.
