It is really a great plot so far. I just hope the author won't punish the FM lead too much and the monsters get away with their heinous deeds for too long. So by the time the end is in sight we as the readers are long time tired of the unfair treatment.
Oh my God, I think I have trust issues. For a moment in chapter two, I thought Evelyn actually poisoned her. Thank God it wasn't the case.

I need to talk about the pacing of this chapter because it is a MASTERCLASS in escalation. The chapter starts at a NORMAL dinner table pace. Jiang Tianci reaching for meat, Jiang Muyan dodging — it's almost comedic. Light, domestic, mundane. And then she drops the bomb: "I've already signed up to go to the countryside!" BOOM. The pace shifts instantly. Liu Fangmei slams the table. Jiang Yucheng gets serious. Jiang Tianci stands up. The scene goes from domestic comedy to family confrontation in one sentence. Then the physical violence starts. Jiang Tianci lunges at her. She dodges. She grabs his wrist. She dislocates his arm. The action is described with such crisp, fast pacing that you can feel the speed of it. Short sentences. Sharp verbs. "A crisp crack echoed." No lingering, no hesitation — just action and consequence. And then the slap. Liu Fangmei attacks, Jiang Muyan slaps her. Another pace shift — from brother to mother, from one-on-one to two-on-one. But Jiang Muyan handles both of them. The pacing never slows down. It's a relentless cascade of conflict. Then — and this is the genius part — the author PAUSES. After all that violence, after the arm dislocations and the slap, we get the Truth-Telling Talisman scene. The pace slows from action to revelation. Liu Fangmei's confession unfolds word by word, and the tension shifts from physical to psychological. You're not wondering if Jiang Muyan will win the fight anymore — you're wondering what will happen AFTER the truth comes out. The chapter ends on a negotiation scene, which is a completely different pace again. It's not fighting now — it's bargaining. Jiang Muyan has won, but she's not done. She's extracting compensation. The pacing gives you just enough breathing room to process the violence before setting up the next conflict. And the chapter breaks? They're perfectly placed. The first break comes right after the slap — a moment of shock. The second break comes after Liu Fangmei's confession — a moment of horror. The third break comes after Jiang Yucheng's fake apology — a moment of suspicion. Each break leaves you wanting more. This is how you write a chapter that does too much and makes it feel like exactly the right amount.
