This one had me hooked from page one, and I think it's because the author actually gives Moke Moke a clear, concrete goal right away instead of just letting her wander around being smug about future knowledge. The five-year gap is smart too. Long enough that she's genuinely experienced and capable, but short enough that her memories are still sharp and specific. She remembers the exact beta test mechanics, the ranking system, the decay timeline of the real world. That's a lot of exposition to digest, and the author handles it by weaving it into Moke Moke's internal monologue as she's processing her rebirth—so it doesn't feel like a textbook dump. But here's what I'm already noticing: the beta test structure itself is basically a mini-quest chain. Water first, fertilize second, make fire, craft pottery. Each "first" triggers a system announcement and a reward. It's satisfying in a video-gamey way, but I'm wondering how the plot will sustain this energy once the beta ends and the real game starts. Will the author just keep doing "first achievement" unlocks, or is there a bigger narrative engine under the hood? The Cheng Shijia cameo in Chapter 3 was a nice touch too—shows there are other experienced players who also remember the future. That's a potential conflict source right there, and I'm curious how that rivalry will play out. For now though, the plot moves cleanly and the stakes feel real even in the beta phase. She's not just playing for fun; her rank determines whether she lives or dies in year one. That's solid.

Full disclosure, I haven't even started reading this yet. (I try not to start a book, as a general rule, until it's done.) However, this author is probably my favorite. The first book in this series was the first book I read on this app. I absolutely cannot wait to read Kaleb's love story!
this was a great book..very emotional but very well written
