I am the Great Flame Alchemist Roy Mustang. The start of this story and the system feels weirdly similar to the Reincarnation in Another world as a slime. I love that anime btw so my review can be a bit biased.I love the fact that someone else picked up a system of this kind. It's one of the best out there and I don't understand why it's so underrated or why there aren't more stories relating to it out there. Anyway, the start is pretty good and I am ready to give it a chance.

To be honest, it's a nice novel. The plot is interesting. Writing quality is good, and the same goes for World building, and characters. I recommend you give it a try, it's worth your time. Anyways, I'm off. Adios.

This novel had a very good start, almost exciting. The system is novel and contains hidden dangers.So what went wrong?The entire build up is wasted!MC doesn't die (no surprise) and the story changes from a good novel, driven forward by the motivations and ideas of the MC, to a mediocre political drama in which the MC uses the system to cheat at every opportunity. It just isn't interesting to read about the MC cheating his way to fame and fortune. The world building breaks down at that point as well, what was once a nebulous empire with basic technology becomes a convoluted mess of different political systems with a very narrow technological development path.It becomes clear pretty quickly that the author has no clue about communication networks and how the basic building blocks of modern technology work.I could deal with a mediocre and very illogical world, if the plot or characters held my attention in any way, but they don't. The MC becomes 1 dimensional, he even uses a spell to deal with basic communication, the side-characters are stupid cliches and the systems good and evil mechanics become a source of constant frustration.

Host, Please Be Honest! What Exactly Are You? is a story about a reincarnated exorcist-cum-cultivator who has been tasked with defending a world with no exorcists. He is also given a system to help accomplish this task. A very interesting premise. It's a cultivation story with a focus on exorcism and fighting various underworld monsters. However, the execution left much to be desired.Writing quality is very poor. There are countless amounts of mistakes, and this is borderline MTL quality. This novel desperately needs an editor. However, I'll give it two stars since it's somewhat readable. (2/5 stars)Story development. The issue with this novel is closely tied into the character design as well. While I said this story focuses on exorcism, the execution may lead you to believe otherwise. This novel actually focuses on face slapping as many people as possible. None of these important people talk to each other, apparently, so the main character can go around and face slap each one of them individually. Usually this stops at some point, but it's chapter 248 and the novel still hasn't stopped with its face slapping plot. At first it was bearable, but it got so repetitive I had to drop the novel. (2/5 stars)The character design is very poor as well. Everything wrong with your typical Xianxia novel is amplified in this novel. There are strictly two types of characters in this novel. Those who hate the main character, and those who treat him as God himself. Usually, those who hate the main character will end up revering him after a few slaps to the face. The characters overall have zero personality, and the main character is emotionless. The only character with a actual personality is the system, and it's rather annoying at times. (2/5 stars)The world background is actually pretty good compared to the rest. The way they describe the world(s) in a timely manner as well as various monsters and their habits makes me wish they worked on the plot and character design a bit more. (4/5 stars)Overall, a novel with a great premise, but horrible execution. The characters as well as the plot are very bad, and not much effort was put into either. The only redeeming factor is the world background, which is actually pretty good. I give this novel 2.8 stars out of 5.

An excellent premise marred by a terrible cast. A more generic MC would do this story a world of good. Instead, our MC complains constantly, is his little sister's whipping boy, and even after he outpaces her, is still manipulated by her and mildly poisoned for her amusement over pretty revenge. The author constantly treats this sister as the upcoming female lead. The best character is the sister's rival, who gets next to no time in the story other than to show the sister's tsundere desire for her brother. The sister is abusive, manipulative and petty. Her only redeeming qualities are her physical looks, which are common as sand on a beach in this genre for a female lead. The father and mother are quick only to believe their daughter over their son, who was historically honest with them and gave no reason to believe her over him. The story in the picket dimension is good and a solid 4 star story, but the rest of the cast and time outside the pocket dimension is miserable, or corny at best. The translation quality is acceptable, but for native English readers has some major speed bumps that make it feel like a machine translation. The grammar and word choice can be rough from chapter to chapter. This set of errors is so common that the comments have made it a reader meme. Overall, I do not suggest this story. The free chapters are okay to bad, and the paid ones are more of the same. Spend your passes and coins elsewhere!
