I don't know what to do, I just felt I should hold you' is so simple but it carries so much weight. She's not trying to solve his problems. She's not offering advice. She's just offering herself. And Fang Xun'gui's response? 'Thank you.' Then when she tries to deflect by mentioning the Truth-Telling Gu, he insists again. 'No, thank you.' Because he understands something she might not fully realize yet — her presence itself is the gift. The narration says his eyes were 'finally illuminated by a sliver of moonlight' after nine years in darkness. I'm not even a person who cries at romance but this got to me. The way he lets himself cling to her warmth, the way he thinks 'this worthless life of Fang Xun'gui shall be offered to her' — this is a man who has spent his entire existence believing he deserves nothing, and love is slowly teaching him otherwise. Yuyi Yue telling him 'As long as you don't regret it, you're not foolish' when he asks if joining the Blood-Severing Pavilion was worth it — that is the kind of emotional validation that changes people. She doesn't judge his choices. She accepts them. And that acceptance is what finally makes him feel human again.
