nice story
The story is interesting enough at the start but at more than 200 chapters it gets to be dragging already....hope the author keeps it short.
There's something really interesting happening with the candy motif here. It appears in three forms: Yuyu's homemade candy that she gives to staff, the two candies Zheng Xiaofeng brings home, and the fact that both children—Yuyu and Yueyue—are connected through this single object before they've even met. The candy is a bridge. It's also a symbol of Yuyu's creativity and care; she's three years old and she's inventing things, making gifts, trying to connect with people. "This is my little invention," she says, offering candy to strangers. She doesn't know she's supposed to be humble. Then there's the stutter. Yueyue's speech impediment is the physical manifestation of everything that's been done to her—other children's cruelty, isolation, the way trauma gets trapped in the body. But notice how the stutter softens when she's talking to her father? "Da-daddy, you're b-back." It's still there but it's not blocking her. Love makes space for imperfect speech. And Yan Xingli's whole situation—the unequal contract, the modest apartment, the reality show as a way to earn money—this is a story about people who are performing for survival. Yuyu performs cuteness. Yan Xingli performs sleepiness for the cameras. Yueyue performs normalcy by staying indoors. The question the book seems to be asking is: what happens when these performances start to crack and the real people underneath come out?
I'm loving Rican's character so much, just like Arzal. I knew it, the character would be great cause I'm always fan of Angst.. Can't wait for their story to unfold...
