I read this particular story because I was seeking a heart-wrenching tale of a man chasing his lost love, which would add to my current mood of depression. To be honest, I found the narrative quite satisfying. The main characters' development, especially the protagonist's strength and vulnerability, were portrayed beautifully. Despite his foolishness and past trauma, the MC exuded resilience. As for the ML, though he starts off as a despicable character, there are hints of his复杂 emotions, which become clearer when his backstory is revealed.
However, I strongly disliked how the secondary character, Rong Qin, was handled. In my opinion, he was more culpable than the ML. Without giving too much away, he played a significant role in pushing the ML to make certain decisions and consistently undermined their relationship. It's frustrating that he doesn't face any consequences for his actions, while the ML had to make amends.
Despite the ML's transformation and respect for the MC's career, which included a scene where Rong Qin reacts negatively to MC taking on a leadership role, I still struggle to empathize with him. I can understand why the MC forgave him quickly, given the emotional ties, but it's hard to swallow.
On a positive note, I was glad to see the second couple's downfall; they seemed to be a disaster waiting to happen. Overall, I enjoyed the story, although the reading experience was marred by technical issues on the translation platform. The navigation often led me to incorrect chapters, forcing me to constantly refer to the table of contents. Since it's a free translation, I suppose I shouldn't complain too much.
The storyline is engaging and well-structured, with characters that maintain a consistent presence. However, the protagonist's fascination with the female lead feels somewhat shallow – her nobility and seemingly charming actions, such as prolonging his tea time with a convoluted excuse, don't quite convince. Despite the escalating complexity in the plot, which could potentially be resolved by either male character, I came across spoilers (available in other reviews) that indicate this might not be my cup of tea. As a result, I believe this story deserves a tragic theme, which is why I'm giving it three stars. While it might excel in a tragic narrative, within its current genre and tags, it doesn't surpass that threshold for me.

Chapter 582 now, lots and of good things a few oversights though. The premise being a modern era man in ancient Greece more specifically Greek colonial south Italy it has him using a lot of modern tactics, politics, ideaology, inventions etc.But also tends to miss the truly shattering impact the of some things l, like the concept of 0 (zero).One big downside which has just occured is the author having events or even characters happening/appearance by years before they should be.
This is great story based on HPL as reference ??
