interesting concept but falls a bit short. I ended up just skimming the chapters at some point since there are a lot of repetetive "he freshend up, ate, and went to sleep. woke up and trained.." repeating. and it is to slow paced for my taste. dropped when I felt it had been aged since he progressed in any meaningful way and I looked ahead seeing there were still like 30 chapters until his next breakthrough.

UNDERATED- Overall rating 4.8/5 (I'm lenient when I review)SHORT CRITICAL REVIEW- Read 118 chaptersAs of the time I'm writing this, it's been 4 months. The amount of recognition this work is getting is pitifully low for what it deserves. It's a solid read for webnovel standards. The story develops quite nicely and besides the beginning which is a little slow, the pacing is good. There are many interesting ideas in the novel and the author does well to execute them. Many novels on here have interesting ideas, but the execution tends to fail. Here, it's quite clear and well explained. I'm not really sure why this novel isn't popular. Perhaps its because some people think its similar to Supremacy Games? (I haven't read that so I can't comment) Maybe it's the little slow start? The other point I could think of would be characters. Personally, I am pleased with the MC of this story. Kind, Silly, Misfortunate, kind of a gag character because of his gambling addiction, Naïve (which he grows out of), perhaps these traits shove away people expecting a ruthless, cold, selfish, anti-hero-like character, pragmatic character, survival of the fittest because the story is a survival game which people expect. It's a shame. It's refreshing to have a more morally good character in such a story. The Mc is very close to his family and has shared his secrets with them (Father and little Sister), which I suppose some people don't like because it's 'Stupid'. Yes yes indeed but not every mc can hold such burdens or secrets within their heart. The MC here actually feels much more human.I've also noticed that some people don't like the Little Sister, but personally I quite like her. Brocon aside, having seen many characters like her in other works, she is much much more on the likable side. She can be seen as annoying, clingy, but readers fail to see that its a very close brotherly and sister relationship. She is executed well.I hope people are more willing to give this novel a shot. It really deserves better.Shipping wise, it is intended to be 3 potential love interests. 118 chapters in, there's only been 1 that has been having the screen time. The other 2 are up in the air in regards to if they have appeared or not. I am looking forward to it. Hopefully I get some romantic drama with 1 heroine winning at the end.
Personally I really liked the character development not only of the MC but also of the secondary characters, it's rare to see that in Isekai and that's what made me abandon the genre a while ago.Another positive point, the author takes his time to describe the situation, I think that in a good novel the author shouldn't rush the story since without pictures you need a lot of details to appreciate the story. Good job, nice discovery for me ?Like what has been said in other reviews, I think the biggest flaw of this novel is the spelling errors, I advise the author to correct them, at least in Chapter 1, since a lot of new readers will not go any further.
The writing quality is much better than most the books on webnovel. The thing that is lacking is that when I was reading the dialogues, it sounded monotonous to me. I felt like I couldn't see or understand the charcaters' expressions that time. Plot is much better and charcaters were nearly perfect. This is one epic harem romance novel if this is continued until the end of the book....
Now that the first volume is done, here's my review and what I think.Writing quality- There are still some chapters I have yet to edit, but other than them I can safely say that the writing quality is good. I use both Grammarly and ProWriting as ways to edit my work, so I would hope the time I spend editing my work with them is worth it.Stability of updates- I can admit that this is the area I need most work in. I enjoy writing but it's more of a hobby. So with things like projects from school, work, etc. I find myself unable to write that frequently. However, I always find time to write at least one to two chapters a week. However, now that I'm done with projects and work, I have more time to focus on writing.Character design- I feel like this category is good. But it's still too soon to tell. Johnathan is far from perfect and still acts pretty immaturely, but he tries to keep that to a minimum since he doesn't want to die. In fights, all he does really is basic things like punches and kicks. Since he doesn't have any training. Other than that, there's not much else to say. It's still too early in the story to go in depth about his character.World Background- Same as the last one. Too soon to say anything. All we know now is that humans are turned into zombies and can evolve. That and the world is trying to save as many people as they can with 'bases'. Since the first volume was mostly the introduction to the apocalypse the world-building wasn't too focused on. I focused more on the rescue arc, and the powers they get. However, the second volume will have a lot more world-building and will show the results of the apocalypse.Other things- Only 24- 30 hours passed since the apocalypse started. The three got right into it and became strong quickly. However, they only seem strong since no other characters were introduced that had powers. The only reason why they got a good handle on mana was because of anime, manga, novels, etc. With those in mind, they progressed pretty quickly. They definitely won't get strong as fast in the future since... Cant really spoil.Anyway, I hope you give the novel a chance and enjoy it. Thanks for reading!
