This is a very interesting book. I love those kids.
The dialogue in these chapters is absolutely razor-sharp. Let me just say it: Chi Yan's voice is the most dangerous instrument in this book. Every time he speaks, he's smiling, and every smile is a threat wrapped in silk. Take this exchange with Liu San — Liu San says something about being Gu Ning's fiancé, practically family, and Chi Yan's response is this gorgeous, chilling line: "Even if it's impolite, it's nothing compared to Doctor Chi..." Wait, no, that's Liu San talking. But Chi Yan's reply — "Third Young Master Liu is overstepping" — delivered with that warm smile that somehow carries a chill? Perfection. The author never lets Chi Yan raise his voice. His power is in the calm. And then Liu San's voice is completely different — brash, performative, flicking his folding fan like he's in a comedy when really he's delivering threats. "Hahaha... it was just a joke" — the classic predator pretending to be harmless. But the real masterclass is in the subtext-heavy moments. When Chi Yan says "Very well, I'll remember Third Young Master Liu's words" with that "unprecedented gentleness" in his voice, Hong Yao and A Qi immediately know something terrible is about to happen. Their hearts sank. The servants read him perfectly. And Jia Xiangwei's dialogue is so different — raw, desperate, no pretense. "Tell me the truth—can my son's hysteria be cured?" No fancy language, just a mother breaking. The author gives each character a voice so distinct you could identify them blind. That's craft.
thanks for the update God speed
I can’t wait for more chapters to this book. It’s really getting good. I hope it’s updated really soon.
Okay can we talk about how the author controls tension like a master? Let me trace the pacing here. We open with Xiao Cheng's entrance — immediate intensity, his eyes locked on Lin Aiyun, the unspoken charge between them. Then Liu Hui tries to deflect with small talk about her father. Xiao Cheng refuses to leave. He's patient — which is unusual for him — and that's what makes it scarier. Then the scene shifts to Lin Aiyun upstairs, changing clothes, and we get the exposition dump about Xiao Cheng being from the capital. Good information delivery because it comes through natural dialogue. Then Zhang Wenyue arrives with umbrellas — quick, warm, comedic relief. Then the ginger soup family scene — more warmth, more grounding. Then back to Lin Aiyun's internal panic about keeping Xiao Cheng in town. Then the next morning, the weather clearing, and BAM — umbrella to the face. The pacing is like a heartbeat. Build, release, build, release, but each cycle goes higher. The author never lets you settle. Just when you think you're getting a breather with the family scenes, they remind you that Lin Aiyun is playing a dangerous game. And that ending? Perfect. It's both literal (someone throwing an umbrella) and metaphorical (her carefully laid plans about to get disrupted). I couldn't put it down.
I love smart female lead, Lana is that girl I am afraid
I have spent a lot of money for super short chapters and basically reading about her being forced to have sex with no real development or solution. not even 100 chapters in and already spent WAY to much. i guess I will not finish this book and get rid of this app. who can afford to pay this
