YES!!! You don’t understand... I will fight tooth and nail for this novel!
This is not a review, but an enthusiastic opinion. I have read this twice now, and I’ll still reread it again later. Each arc has its own unique charm and allure. Even when I think I won’t like a certain couple, I end up being pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed every bit of it. The novel’s pacing was well-executed. The characters were well-developed and intriguing, each with their own motives and interests. The plot kept moving forward, even when it wasn’t immediately obvious.

The book is actually quite entertaining! I absolutely love Ariel and just want her to find happiness. However, there are a few issues I have with the author's writing. Here's a breakdown:
1. Spoiler Alert: The description of the "exotic dark-skinned man with a turban" merchant struck me as odd, as it seems to perpetuate Middle Eastern stereotypes. It's unfortunate.
2. Another spoiler: The novel occasionally includes fatphobic comments and portrays obesity as a negative trait, which I find uncomfortable and disappointing. I wish authors would avoid such stereotypes. These factors led me to put the book down a couple of times.
Despite these concerns, I would still say the novel has its charm and is enjoyable overall.
The portrayal is utterly unbearable. The main character lacks depth and charm, resembling a bland, idealized version of a typical Japanese protagonist. It's hard to believe that someone wouldn't seek revenge after enduring immense suffering – it comes across as unrealistic and detached from reality.
The princesses and noblewomen are portrayed as mere dolls, lacking agency and blindly accepting whatever they're told. They fail to challenge information or express dissent, making them weak and unsympathetic characters. The majority of the nobility are portrayed as entitled, irresponsible brats, shifting blame onto the MC while the supposedly supportive princesses remain passive.
The MC's decision to endure life in a toxic environment, surrounded by bullies and discriminators, for five years without seeking a better life seems illogical and alienating for readers. It's difficult for anyone to empathize with such an implausible level of patience. To those who can relate or find solace in such a character, one might admire their alleged angelic nature or divine qualities, likening them to Jesus or Buddha.

If you haven't already read "I became the pope now what" you have to check it out, it's amazing very slow paced but the story, World-building and the characters, it's so f*ck*n good.
